    That's a good question actually.

    I think a real hard ass prescriptivist approach would be that capturing a title on New Year's Eve would exclude you.

    Usually there's a gradient, though. You go from prospect to contender as you fight ranked guys and cannibalize their status, and that process usually eclipses more than a year. But not always.

    Jokes aside, this ain't been a bad year to get into consistently watching boxing, lack of promising prospects aside. Lotta folks have been disappointed but I've loved it, got to tune into some damn good fights. Only worry is how a slow year might go down now. I was a bit spoiled here :lol:

    Do you really need to explain the nickname White Chocolate? I don't think it's about his boxing style.

    I was thinking about a guy like Foster who grabbed a random belt in a moribund division.

    He is sort of a non-prospect though because he got derailed early on and is kind of a comeback story.
