One of the worst fights I have watched in a long time. Stevenson needs to decide whether he is in the entertainment business. And the announcers need to stop with the hype of Stevenson. An awful night.

I don’t gamble. It’s a 5050 fight and nothing you say changes it. You can spout off all the physical attributes you want, but we just seen a guy get mentally exposed. He’s 26 years old, fights only twice a year, and he’s tired. Yea, seeing what we’ve seen in the past with guys who are supposed to be the future because on paper, their physicality is top tier, something is often missing mentally that’s required to keep them sharp, ready, willing and able. There is a lot of yap, a lot of lip flap, but when it becomes time to put on a show, but you refuse to engage, that’s mental. Happens with many mouthy fighters. For whatever reason, they freeze up when it’s time to show up. This talk of taking a break reminds me of Victor Ortiz saying he doesn’t deserve to get beat up the moment he faced adversity. 5050 fight in my eyes guy.

This has literally never once happened to a British fighter in the entire history of the sport.

    We invented the ''nobbins''

'Nobbins is British slang for money thrown into a boxing ring by the crowd in appreciation of a good contest'

All those fans in attendance threw their money away

We reward our boys by throwing our hard earned money in the ring for them to keep because they're, we are, warriors and we want to put on a show and entertain and give the fans their money's worth

The Stevenson/De Los Santos main event was a bore. I scored it for Stevenson, 8-4 rounds, 116-112 points, in line with all three judges. I gave DLS the 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th rounds. He never landed much during the fight, but in the early rounds I gave him, he was relatively aggressive and on the front foot, and managed to land a few clean punches, which was enough to take those rounds. Stevenson fought the entire fight standing at arm's distance from DLS, and quickly jumping straight backwards whenever DLS threw anything of apparent consequence. He hardly threw any punches at all in the early rounds, but in the second half of the fight his punch output crept up a little bit, and he started landing some hard crisp right hands on occasion. Conversely, DLS from about the 6th round on, whether bc he was bamboozled and/or discouraged, was no longer as aggressive nor on the front foot, and he was no longer landing the punches which were taking earlier rounds. Stevenson won the fight with defense and ring generalship, and just enough offense.

What the above paragraph does not quite convey is how excruciatingly boring this fight was. Both fighters spent almost the entire fight at arm's distance from each other, rarely throwing any punches, apparently not wanting to risk being hit, apparently overly respectful of each other's power, never landing any punches of consequence. The crowd started booing during the 2nd round, and then booed during every successive round. The "highlight" of the fight was a brief exchange in the 9th round that began and ended in a flash. Neither fighter ever landed as many as ten punches in a single round. DLS was credited for landing 40 punches during the fight, a record low for a 12-round fight in the Compubox era. Stevenson was credited for only 20-some left-handed punches thrown during the fight. Postfight, Stevenson admitted he had a "bad performance", and he said he "wasn't feeling well", but he did not say there was anything wrong with his left hand, though he did say he needed a rest and he needed to not spend so much time in the gym bc that's how injuries can happen. ESPN's Mark Kriegel said postfight that he witnessed bruising on Stevenson's left hand during training camp, so presumably Stevenson fought this fight with some injury or other, but he never seemed to be favouring his left hand, and whether there really is some significant injury remains to be seen.

Win or lose, Stevenson is not entertaining. I won't tune in again live. I'll watch the highlights the next day. What a waste of time.

Just like you say that about how Shakur looks I can say look at how navarette looked against a guy in Robson who's more similar to Shakur than Santos is to navarette. Navarette did not look good in fact he lost almost all rounds tonight accept the ones he got the knockdowns in. If you can't see a guy who's bigger better and more durable with light years better defense than Robson is a horrible styles match up for navarette then I don't know what to tell you. But hey that's your opinion.

It was a nice little cardio session for them. They could both fight again tomorrow.

Santos threw twice as many power punches as Shakur so its unfair to claim he wasn't throwing. Overall he threw 50% more punches.
