Is it me or is Top Rank having and up and down year with the Cotto and KP losses??? I mean, they "are" their key fighters. Discuss...
Margarito is also one of their key guys. Same with Manny Pacman. They promote Joshua Clottey and Ivan Calderon. And they have a bunch of future stars like Juan Manuel Lopez. I think they are doing ok.
You are right in what you are saying but I am sure that Bob would've prefer for Cotto to win than Margo since Cotto is more marketable. I guess this is an up and down business so they are just going thru a down perhaps.
I think Margo is more marketable. There are way more Mexicans than there are Puerto Ricans, and Margo is an all action guy with little in the way of defense.

No way bro...Cotto was catching on with mainstream americans. If Cotto won, he would've faced De La Hoya in an epic match. If he beat oscar, he would've been the face of boxing....That loss was BAD for top rank.
I am not sure if I am convince with this argument. I don't think that being a Mexican / Puerto Rican / etc necesarily plays a role here... We all love fighters by how much they accomplish in the ring no matter were they are from. Arum knows that a Cotto victory would have lead to a possible match with ODLH and PBF. The victory from Margo have proof so far that he will not have that kind of fights in the future.
