Top Rank Does An Absolutely Terrible Job Promoting Their Up And Coming Young Talents.

While I'm not Anti-Top Rank or Pro any other Promotions I find the whole this promotion is better than that promotion debate incredibly idiotic, but I just wanted to point out what an awful job they've been doing showcasing their hot new prospects.

Golden Boy has Golden Boy Live on Fox Sports 1 and Fox Deportes that they use specifically to promote their young talents and up until recently were regularly putting fighters on the Shobox The Next Generation cards. All great outlets to introduce us to the stars of the future. But Top Rank outside of Solo Boxeo on Unimas most of their talents rarely see the light of day on TV. They literally toil away on untelevised undercards or if they're really lucky PPV undercards until they've racked up 20 or so wins and they are foisted upon the audience as the next big thing by HBO, with most of the audience not knowing who the hell they are. They need some form of a TV farming system to build their stars before they make it to prime time.

    A Few Examples:
Two of the hottest Eastern European Prospects there is currently are Oleksandr Gvozdyk and Egor Mekhontsev both have been virtually unseen they've been doing basically the same thing as Beterbiev and Khytrov, blasting every opponent out of the ring in impressive fashion, but they have none of the hype ...because no one has seen them. Bob could have two potential monster breakout stars in his roster but they are idling away on the untelevised undercards of Unimas Solo Boxeo and that's about it.

Jesse Hart will be on the May/Pac undercard no one knows who he is, and its doubtful he'll even make the televised portion either.

They have a ton of hot young Mexican and Mexican American prospects but none other than Gilberto Ramirez and Oscar Valdez is being seen by anyone. Jose Ramirez, Alex Saucedo, Ivan Najera, Julian Rodriguez, Jose Felix, Victor Pasillas, The Magdaleno Brothers and even Andy Ruiz to a certain extent, virtual unknowns all of them. When if given the proper outlet could all become potential earners due to the large Mexican American fanbase that's available to them.

Seanie Monaghan a limited but relatively exciting Light Heavyweight who's been around for awhile now and no one knows who he is in spite of his undefeated record, not being mentioned as a possible Kovalev opponent he's not even in the mix.

Mikael Zewski a very talented fighter from Canada, he's handsome and has a decent KO ratio is very marketable barely an afterthought, in fact most people have forgot he's a pro.

They've completely destroyed any momentum Ryota Murata had when he first turned pro, he's been pitted against below average opposition and has already been forgotten by many fans in spite of his status as a 2012 Gold Medalist.

Two exciting young fresh faced very talented EE fighters Konstantin Ponomarev and Egidijus Kavaliauskas just signed with them yet they're already afterthoughts.

    Two of the Hottest Prospects
Felix Verdejo they seem to be on the right track with constantly showcasing him on Solo Boxeo and they are grooming him for an eventual shot on HBO hopefully they won't drop the ball like they did with this guy.

Jose Benavidez they ruined in many ways, he went from a relative unknown to the casuals and put him in the ring with the spoiler of all spoilers Mauricio Herrera, who even if you legitimately beat you look bad doing it. And he lost but was gifted a decision by corrupt judges. The fact that he really lost shouldn't have been a shock to anyone considering Herrera is the rightful Lineal Light Welterweight Champion of the World but was robbed in the Garcia match and then they robbed Herrera again of all things who was at the time a very sympathetic figure, so how did they think this would make Benavidez look good is beyond anyone comprehension.

But instead of investing in the future what do we get Top Rank trotting out washed up bordering on sad fighters who used to be stars like Donaire, Darchynian, Montiel, Alvarado, Beltran and Abregu draining them completely until they are completely worthless shot shells.

And then they are force feeding us hypejobs like Jessie Vargas, Evgeny Gradovich, and the most egregious example of all Zou Shiming. When they have little to no appeal at all, yet they get HBO slots left and right.

Well at least they still have Manny, Bradley, Marquez, and Brandon to milk to their last drop.

But to their credit they have done a relatively decent job with Terence Crawford, Nicholas Walters and Vasyl Lomachenko...... but who knows what the hell is going on with Mikey.:conf

Bob and his crew really need to get their s*** together in a big way they are sitting on quite a few potential money makers but they are being stifled due to their lack of exposure by their own promoters making. They need to find a better way of making new stars instead of just dropping them on everybody out of the blue like they tend to do most of the time.

Basically what I'm saying is they need to learn how to promote a little better.

Postscript: They did make a deal with TruTV....which hasn't amounted to much so far.:verysad

this time next year Manny and Marquez will probably be retired. some of these guys youre talking about will get their chance so long as they continue to do what theyve been doing

Well, I think, in contrast to your post, Jose Felix Jr. was actually promoted quite well. I remember he was on the undercard for Pacquiao, but he just couldn't get past Bryan Vasquez. If he beat Vasquez, he would've had far more lucrative fights. He just completely shut-down in that fight.

Diego Magdaleno is the one I'm finding it hard to understand why he's been on the bum circuit. The guy arguably should've had the win over Martinez and won the title. Why isn't he fighting the likes of Uchiyama, Miura, or Shafikov?

    True

instead they focus on screwing over their top crop fighters and making them face off against their in house hypejobs.

    All about $$$

It's funny because people are more on Jesse than Diego. I'm also the opposite. I like Diego more.

Questioning Arum and Top Rank? Better watch out as the Pac fanatics will soon be here in force to give you a post's worth of abuse each for criticising the guy who has been conning their hero.

Fact is Top Rank suck. Not quite sure why people don't want to hear that. We need one governing body rather than these joke factions that currently run boxing.

Well some of these guys are very young in their careers so it's understandable that they aren't promoted too much but others do indeed to be promoted more in terms of just getting their name out and putting them in with better opposition, Top Rank is sometimes too stagnant with their talent and take too long to nourish them.

I heard that you can watch the full undercards of their shows on their website if you are a member but I don't know if it's true or not. I wonder if they have the Gvozdyk and Mekhonstev fights we haven't seen on there?
