I knew i heard that name before....thats that brittish boxer that was supposed to fight Williams.

Damn, its crazy how twisted boxing politics get.

I agree, it's whats been destroying boxing for some time.

He still needs a tune-up! after a long lay-off, this is a good fight to take with no risk.

not from the early reports i heard, jennings was williams' no.1 contender thus the cotto fight would be for the vacant title, not 100% sure tho to be honest?

Just take it! Get some confidence and then on to bigger and better things. I would love to see cotto work someone before he gets a tougher match.

I don't know anything about Jennings but I hoping that he presents some kind of physical and/or stylistic similarity to Margarito. Last year before fighting Margo Cotto fought Gomez which did absolutely nothing to prepare him for a fight against Margarito. I still think Cintron is the ideal fight for him because he not only has size and strength advantages over Cotto but as a former champion he has a reputable name.

Jennings for the belt, it's a smart move even if it's a **** fight.

I don't think Arum cares too much about the belts... the link posted quoted arum saying that Cotto/Margarito 2 will happen even if Margarito loses against Mosely. I don't know, perhaps Cotto is ducking Jennings? :yep

I actually tend to think that a jennings fight is a good idea for cotto, the way he lost to margarito you don't want to chuck him straight in the deep end and fight williams for instance next fight (i think cotto would actually beat williams but its beside the point)

However you got to love cotto's balls for wanting the biggest fight possible, a true fighter :good

Whats the problem with that fight? Cotto gets a belt and a self-confidence boost.

Arum is right. Jennings would shake off the Margo demons and get him the WBO belt, which can be used as bargaing v Margo. Arum might have something agreed with Warren too, who knows. Cotto should take it.

Cotto doesn't WANT the fight though. He wants a bigger and better opponent than Michael Jennings.

Cotto should realize that he doesn't NEED Arum at this point. You think he'd be without an offer from a promoter for more than...12 hours?

DeLaHoya would throw Shane Mosley in a lake with cement shoes on to get Cotto on Golden Boy.

Well, he's a similar height but that's it as far as similarities go.

Jennings is technically sound and good on his feet. He's got the size and skills to do well, but his speed is average and he's no power to speak of. He may well nick a couple of early rounds but he's got nothing to keep Cotto off him or a good enough defence to protect himself for 12. If it goes ahead, Cotto should break him down and stop him in the second half of the fight.
