Has a deal with DAZN now we just need The Pbc and the fights that can happen would be crazy This content is protected
Does that mean that ESPN is done with boxing? I wonder if this means DAZN will greatly expand its historic fight catalog
DAZN is slowly swallowing every boxing promotion company. I think it's only a matter of time for PBC to integrate as well.
Espn is sick of the awful ratings from boxing based on guys fighting cream pies for big money. Dazn faces an existential these based on people illegally streaming. I don't know what will happen. Arum needs to sell top rank
ESPN shouldn't of let top rank get away with some of their matchmaking. But then again, ESPN doesn't give a ****
Yes, ESPN is finished. Ratings just weren't there to support the financials. Boxing is headed toward destruction as it become consolidated but not in a good way. The moment DAZN or the Saudis call it quits, the money won't be there for *anyone* But DAZN should be able to stage some good fights in the meantime. ...
Weren’t all the American promoters laughing at Matchroom and Eddie Hearn when they announced the DAZN deal in 2018? Now they’re all begging to be on DAZN.
Yeah, putting boxing on an app the vast majority of the sports watching public doesn't have is not a good sign. Most bars and restaurants don't have DAZN so it's unlikely the sport will be on randomly for people to get into I love DAZN, they put on a ton of fights from different promoters and are reasonably priced. It's great as a die hard boxing fan to have the consolidation but see where you are coming from as a long term problem for boxing
More promotions on same platform is always nice but not gonna lie I wish that platform was Amazon Prime or Netflix (with better live streaming server) and not DAZN. No, absolutely not because PBC is there (and putting up overpriced mediocre cards sporadically), but simply because it is significantly more common among casual viewers. A ton of people have Amazon Prime or Netflix already regardless of boxing fan or not, so the hurdle of getting someone to watch is much easier than getting someone to subscribe to DAZN.
I agree having all the big promoters on DAZN which isn’t too well-known compared to other broadcasters isn’t good for attracting new eyeballs to the sport. Amazon Prime don’t seem to want to invest much money into boxing. PBC have only done one non-PPV show on Prime and that was partially funded by Australian PPV money.
I can see Netflix or maybe Amazon Prime getting more interested in taking shows but at the end of the day having a lot of promoters on dazn won't matter because all these promoters want their guys to fight cream puffs for easy money. They don't want to work with other promoters and have the best fight someone from another stable because that is a risk to them.
Makes the Prime Live Boxing cards on Prime Video in Japan even more impressive. They gave 5 more than satisfying cards last year and the first one just announced for next year (Nakatani-Cuellar etc) is also nice. Best part of it, Japanese Amazon Prime users gets to watch all of them for free, and the account itself only costs like 4 USD per month or 40 USD annually.
at the same time, the casual isn’t going to be interested in all the random fight nights. not anymore, where channel flipping isn’t a thing. DAZN has been moving toward what I have always wanted from them. A one stop for combat sports. I mean, if you like watching dudes beat up other dudes, it’s a little hard to be bored if you have a DAZN subscription. (Try watching some of the Muy Thai stuff, bros) Hulu? **** if I know why I pay them money; I assume something my wife watches must be on there. but the only thing I’m good at is mispredicting things so wtf do I know.
