He's better than Takuma, but on the same level as Nishida and Takei.

What was with the baited breath suspense and collective pop from the Tokyo Dome crowd when Jimmy Lennon said "and new"? Did they really believe the outcome was in doubt?

The Japanese are just very reserved and polite.

Who's the old man they just showed applauding closeup in the crowd? (or, they did on RMC Sport, not sure about ESPN)

Assuming it's somebody Takei has a connection to...is he the son or nephew of an ex-pro?

Takei not being as gassed and beating him to the punch repeatedly earlier in the contest may have had something to do with it.

Dayuum! Maloney may well have got him out of there if there was another 20 seconds. Takei was all out of gas. Impressive by Takei but it looked like they might have made a miscalculation in that last round jumping into a 12 rounder against a solid world champion like Maloney in just his 9th fight. Had Takei ever been anywhere near round 12 prior to this? I'm guessing not

Even though this one went the distance, Naoya will save the day. I doubt Nery will make it to the 3rd round.

He gassed multiple times in the last few rounds and Moloney pushing him earlier would've sped up the process. Let's face it, he kinda ****ed his only good chance at winning by being passive which is often an issue for him.

    Is Inoue Nery next?

Could really do with a first half KO so I can whack on the snooker final.
