    Round 1 Kuwahara 10-9, close
    Round 2 Akui 10-9
    Round 3 Akui 10-9
    Round 4 Akui 10-9
    Round 5 Akui 10-9, close
    Round 6 Akui 10-9
    Round 7 Akui 10-9
    Round 8 Akui 10-9

Akui walks into a left hook, doesn't faze him. Still marching forward, hammering Taku's face in with head snapping jabs. Akui lands a monster combo, Taku did well to not go down from that. Taku occasionally landing lefts, Akui responds with heinous rights.

Nah, not happening for Kuwahara - he just doesn't have the positional sense and although he's got fast feet they aren't quite fast enough to compensate. Akui is always on him. Horrible.

    Kuwahara:1,5
    Akui: 2,3,4,6,7,8,

R8, 10-9 Akui, 78-74; Kuwahara eats a huge right hand mid-round, kind of surprised he absorbed it

Goddamn it, this was first?

Round 8 to Akui, patiently bringing the heat. Kuwahara game, bopping around throwing counters but when he gets caught it's serious.

Akui lands a jab that freezes Taku up, who rocks back on his heels. Aku then counters Taku's left hook with another jab, which is like a power shot. Taku is moving less and less, Akui taking advantage, planting his feet as well, and sitting down on body shots. Taku wings in a shot, throws himself off balance, Akui counters him with an uppercut. Akui pins him on the ropes, works the body. Taku fires back a furious flurry, landed a few, but Akui took them well.

R9 Akui, 10-9, 88-83; Nothing Kuwahara can do to win this IMO, even when he lands his punches have no effect on Akui

They robbed us of our chance to see Doheny take out another young punk in 4.

Kuwahara tired and beleaguered but battling like hell. Akui advancing like Anton Chigurh behind a strong high jab and thudding body hooks, always inevitably trapping Kuwahara on the ropes or in a corner where he desperately resorts to quick deep leans or bows in between fits of desperate countering. Akui walks through it all, ripping him with shots that either snap him to attention or leave him hopping on one leg.

Taku looking bewildered at this point, not reacting well to most of what Akui is landing. Akui nails him with a right that sends him off balance. Akui amps up the pressure, trying to follow up, but Taku is hauling ass.
