The whole notion Pavlik is **** scared of Williams passes me by, it just seems completely unlikely. Williams benefits of his superhero avoided status in cases like this. The timing of Pavlik's pulling out and then arranging this fight is suspect but worst case scenario is they felt they weren't ready for a big fight without testing the hand. A guy that fought Hopkins at 170 and plenty of bangers at middleweight is scared of a guy coming up from 154lbs? I don't think so. Why because he's tall and throws a lot? Come on.
Neat Martinez' ass? :rofl C'mon, you may have thought Paul won the fight, fair play, but he was the one being beat up by Martinez.
Yup. Martinez would be a very difficult fight for Pavlik. I would favor Sergio slightly in that fight. Paul Williams, on the other hand, may be a tough customer, but his style is "Kelly Pavlik without the power". That's not going to give KP many sleepless nights.
People keep saying Pavlik will get killed because he has no defense... Well he has proven that he has an iron chin, so you need to really tee off on him. And he has enough offense that anyone that tries gets KFO. Only way to beat KP is to outbox him on points like BHop did and a good boxer that shows alot of angles and can make him look bad. I bet Ward's style would give him probs.
Kelly breathed a sigh of relief because Paul is the bigger pay day. Had Martinez gotten the nod, the same money would not be on the table from HBO. Kelly said he had Martinez up a couple of rounds.
