:think Actually, a Donaire vs Senchenko thread on the General might be a winner to be honest :yep. I remember after the Montiel fights, the Pacquiao comparisons were in overdrive with people seeing how high in weight he could go.

It'd be funny to see how many genuine responses it would get.

Some **** in the general suggested Nonito Donaire fight Muhammad Rachman (an old Minimumweight boxer) in a thread similar to this, so people picking Donaire to 'KTFO' the Ukranian Welterweight isn't exactly outside the realms of possibility :yep

    Montiel>Williams
    Darchinyan>Williams

    Montiel>Pavlik
    Darchinyan>Pavlik

    Mthalane>Cinton
    Mthalane>Dzinziruk

    Sydorenko>Dzinziruk

    Cintron>Sydorenko
    Cintron>Marquez

    Dzinziruk>Marquez

Simples. Added to that the fact that Donaire is a better fighter than Martinez.

Also has a win over Raul Martinez, who is proven to be a more than capable super-fly at world level by beating Rodrigo Guerrero, Maldonado was a good win too, I'd argue it was Montiel who ruined him, not Donaire. The rest of Maravilla's noteable wins are probably on a par with Donaire's over Chango Vargas, good, but always going to fall short at a good level-type guys.

Don't let Sexy Sergio's looks confuse you, it's rather clear cut for me.

I don't agre with Montiel over Williams, especially given recent form. Okay, Montiel looked superb when battering Hozumi, but before that he'd left be fairly underwhelmed. That beat Concepcion, who ain't all that great. Montiel had been in limbo before the move up to 118. Williams had a shutout over Winky going into their first fight IIRC, with Pavlik shitting it from him. He was a horrible matchup for many at the time, as was Martinez.

Admittedly, he had the Cintron NC going into the 2nd. Still, the crushing K.O was no better or worse against Nonitos of Montiel. I just give the edge to Sergio for the time period I've laid out :thumbsup

I also don't see why the Vic win is being rated in the current P4P debate? :huh My cut off point is a year for inactivity, and 18 months for a win that can count towards your inclusion (actually P-Dub 1 might've been longer than that now :good) and the Vic win was years ago.

If you count it towards Nonitos current P4P status, then I'd understand why you'd have Nonito higher :good

I certainy think Nonito will surpass him soon if he gets the kinda' fights HE wants. Barker for Martinez is not summat I agree with at all :-(

Why shouldn't it be included exactly? If your criteria is built from having wins within a certain time frame, then Pacquiao would suffer for fighting the likes of Margarito and Mosley(and Clottey some might say), Vic is included because he's part of, in fact he was the beginning of a very good run of victories Donaire has had. Concepcion and Vargas aside, he's beaten Darchinyan, Maldonado, Mthalane, Martinez, Sydorenko and Montiel. You can't disregard it IMO, not when it's part of a string of victories such as that.

If we all did things like that then we wouldn't even give Hopkins consideration, seeing as all he's had recently is that Pascal results.

When Montiel was 'in limbo' it was courtesy of the Valdez result, when he had already moved up to 118 and recorded a win against Rosas. He had an iffy showing against Valdez and then came back with immediate wins against the promising(albeit, novice) Ciso Morales and Hasegawa, which IMO anyways slightly surpasses two, frankly, underwhelming wins against two past it fighters in Wright and Phillips(I think:huh).

Why that string of victories can't be counted is a mystery to me quite frankly, it's what comfortably warrants him being placed above Sexy Serge.

Pac fought two top ten Welters and didn't lose a round IMO. Margo was stronger without having the extra cut, again, Pac basically whitewashed him.

He remained the most astounding fighter last 'season' (my p4p season) a few years back, no.

Just MY criteria, as I say, understand entirely if you criteria allows for that, as then Nonito would be higher than Martinez.
