Patrick, not sure if you remember an Australian film from the 70s bearing your name. Was about a guy in a coma. In this case its spooky if we apply it to someone else.
To suggest that Mundine is avoiding Golovkin because he is to dangerous is narrow minded ignorance. Golovkin was a great amateur boxer but like many German based fighters his professional record has been built up against "fraudulent" opposition. A perfect example was Golovkins last opponent, Mikhail Makarov, who came into the fight with a perfect record of 10 from 10. Problem was that none of Makarov's opponents had winning records ! Prior to Makarov he KO'd Carvalho who has never won outside of Brazil although he does possess some power in his punches.....unlike Anthony Greenidge who has done himself no favours bouncing up and down in weight (min. 141 * max 169) over a four year period. In fact the majority of fighters Golovkin has faced lacked the class required to prepare him for a fight against someone of Mundine's calibre. Golovkin's better known opponents ( eg: Javier Mamani, Ian Gardner, Malik Dziarra, etc) were past their best and unable to give him the tough fights needed. The simple fact is that Golovkin will be disadvantaged by the lack of quality match ups coming into a title fight. Having never gone more than eight rounds, Golovkin could struggle both physically and mentally, especially against someone like Mundine who has the speed to counter Golovkin should he go looking for an early KO. No, should Mundine by-pass Golovkin it would not be for the reasons you suggested, in fact I would not be surprised if the issue is settled sooner than you think.
Keep making up excuses for your man. You can continue to analyse Golovkin's pro record all you like, but the bottomline is, the guy is a real LIVE opponent and Khoder and Choc know this. You don't beat guys like Lucian Bute and Andre Dirrell in the amateurs without being considered a top prospect. Agree that Mundine would be a step up in class for Golovkin, but given Choc's choice of dancing partners recently Golovkin is a MAMMOTH step up in class for Mundine. The simple fact is, (as history will demonstrate) Choc will continue to take the easy route path. Golovkin has already agreed to fight in Mundine's own backyard, with his choice of judges and for a vacant WBA belt. Seems everything is there for the taking. The only thing missing is a pair of balls.
Scared he is ,Scared he will be stuck on his arse like he was against kim or worse KTFO again v Feather fists, seeing as you're on Boxrec do you care to tell me what Rob Medley's last opponents record looked like pre Medley fight ? 5-5-1 ( did beating him warrant Rob a fight with Mundine ) ? Welcome back A-Gay (although you NEVER left) did you ? ,,Ps don't go missing when Mundine's next opponent is shortly announced will you ,there's a good BOY ..That is all .
You are right - Golovokin is a bad opponent for Mundine because he has nothing to lose, everything to gain and seems willing to accomodate Choc. What about Geale versus Golovokin for no strap? Or anyone other locals. Any thoughts?
Although it would have been a good match and I would have liked to see it, the name golovkin hardly resonates with the casual followers of boxing. Contrary to what certain people on here would want you to believe (cough Josey Wales), the name golovkin was not even bandied about until rumours of him fighting "the man" surfaced. At least when mundine try to sell the fight at 154 the pioneer and history making aspect will hook more people. atsch According to the hater brigade mundine can't make 154 so to categorize it as an easier path is surely a contradiction - not that you ever contradict yourself Wish you would. The pioneer is coming :deal Does your keyboard have the exclamation mark where the full stop should be?!!! You have proved time and time again you know nothing about making weight!!!!! Other way around. You would know :rofl No-one cares about golovkin without the mundine link. Please don't trot out the "you watched him as a young amateur spiel" which is your usual response followed by a swift "pillar of the community" self proclamation. I'm positive you wrongly thought this post was genuinely funny. A bit of sense among the crap in this thread. Good post.
narrow minded? Please point out the dangermen on mundines record, apart from the big hitters like Crazy Kim :yep
Wondered which of the two you were referring to in some of what you've written above. Golovkin is in all likelyhood no less hardened by 'tough' opponents than Mundine.
I know I'm getting feeble minded, & the goal posts are now made by Lamborghini, but can someone tell me why Anthony is in the top 10 of any real rating as a middleweight? As a matter of fact, does anyone here still believe that the ratings matter to a well funded team? Chock fighting a Jap champ at Jnr Middy??? I guess the Indians just got the contract to provide the scales. Bye bye Salter,,,,hello Tata.:****
Couple of questions for you aj, if the wba middleweight belt is so close for choc to grab with minimal resistance in GOLOVKIN as you say, if mundine just brushes aside golovkin with his feather duster will he be in a much better position for a super fight with a big name, and will mundine be more of a target for the top names? Also if mundine does bypass golovkin for the risk reward reason or golovkin is a no name reason, then which big name would risk a super fight with choc for no reward as mundine is a nobody outside of australian circles? puting the shoe on the other foot , mundine will never be on any bigname fighters radar UNTIL he beats a decent name himself or secures a title, and i believe that opportunity is here now for the taking, at 35 this is his ticket to a super fight, if he bypasses he wont be in any super fight EVER. If mundine doesnt take this fight , there will be three possible reasons why,1. he is **** scared, 2. risk reward and 3. hes about to announce a super fight, 2. doesnt make sense if you look at it from a big names perspective, 1.makes more sense which history has shown and 3 we will wait and see. I was a huge fan of choc i went to school with the guy, played b ball together, seen every fight, gave him the benifit of the doubt every time, if he opts for an easier option than golovkin, it will be the last straw for me and i will not put money in his pocket ever again, he has bled me dry, 50 bucks a pop for heaps of fights, hes cost me thousands, yes i was stupid. NEVER AGAIN. :nono
Seriously if Mundine dogs the Golovkin fight which looks certain surely there aren't still people out there who buy his PPV against nobodies ?
Mundine should fight Golovkin as the fight is right there ready to be made. I'm baffled why Khoder didn't attend the purse bid, but the only thing I can think of is he doesn't want to give Golovkin 50-50. So if they run with Top Rank's bid and then make the fight, maybe they can make more money this way, with the PPV buys, etc to leverage off? But in logic, you would have to think winning the WBA middleweight title is a better way to go as Choc has never fought at 154 pounds. What is the chance of getting Cotto in the ring if he does beat Ishida and Cotto beats Foreman - unlikely I'd figure. It's surprising Mundine hasn't talked in the media for months now, the Medley fight was in January and it's now May. Normally his fights are every three months, so this is also surprising. This fight announcement though is so highly anticipated despite him not saying a word or giving a hint of who he is going to fight, which says wonders about his profile.
its only anticipated on here by a few, general public wouldn't even know. All I'm anticipating is the excuse.
