You can pay a promoter to stage an event. That doesn't make you the promoter. It makes them the promoter. Paying Chavez Promotions to stage a Chavez fight doesn't make you the promoter anymore than HBO paying Top Rank to put on a boxing show makes HBO the promoter.

Makes sense, and I suspect you are correct.

These guys can't see past their own hate to be rational. It's mob hysteria. Not that I know Al Haymon but it takes a bit to win a civil case. THIS IS NOT A CRIMINAL CASE PEOPLE. LEARN AMERICAN LAW!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is stated in almost all of the [United States] Commissions' Protocol, Procedure, Rules and Regulations Handbooks that a promoter "must" include a provision in their contracts that state:

If monetary compensation is paid to manager; check / initial here:

Some states require that the combatant list the name of manager, manager's business address & contact information and/ or issue a certified copy of the manager / combatant contract when applicable.

    EXAMPLE:

    http://www.abcboxing.com/documents/abcboxing_model_boxer_and_bout_sample_contracts.htm

    MODEL BOUT CONTRACT (3rd Draft)

    5th paragraph of contract:

Should Boxer desire Manager to be paid directly by Promoter, Boxer must initial here _____, and the Manager must be currently licensed or have a manager’s license application on file with the Commission.

    CHAVEZ JR PROMOTIONS

Does anybody have this check picture? If correct, then there is really nothing different from normal.

Since we are dealing with time buys, Haymon sports is essentially playing the role of the network. You know how HBO pays the promoter? Haymon boxing would be HBO in this instance.

i posted it in previous thread.

HBO pays the promoter because it is a distributor. They acquired licensing fees to broadcast the fight. Hbo is essentially paying to broadcast the fight.

Haymon paying Chavez has nothing to do with licensing fees. Haymon would have to explain why he is paying Chavez that. Also, the licensed promoter that produced chavez/fonfara was warriors boxing, not chavez promotions.

HBO pays licensing fee. So there is no clear reason why Haymon is paying Chavez that. I suppose you could say that Haymon is paying Chavez promotions for right to broadcast fight. However... Warriors promotions was the promoter there. Even if somehow Chavez was co promoting it, its illegal for the manager to pay the promoter. Officially, Haymon is the legal manager for Chavez, (or so both sides claim). If this is so, even if the manager (haymon) pays the promoter, its still violates the Ali Act.

In fact, its even worse because the Ali Act prevents collusion between manager and promoter. Sending a check from manager to promoter is evidence of financial collusion.

So even if all that is true you said, its still illegal because Haymon is the manager. The only way this is ok is if Haymon is not the listed manager of Chavez and pays Chavez promotions for licensing fees to broadcast the fight.

However, in this case, the manager paid the promoter or boxer.

So if warriors boxing (the promoter) chose to pay chavez (the boxer) and chavez deferred payment to haymon (the manager) that is fine.

However, haymon paid chavez for the fight. Either way the manager paid the promotion or boxer. This is illegal.

If haymon was not the manager for chavez then this could get them off.

Haymon gets paid from the promoter and it's his responsibility to pay the combatant (Chavez Jr).

Many boxers have it set up this way; Shane Mosley would get paid from his wife's business account, as she was his manager. She would get 100% of his purse, and pay him his pay from her account.

Same thing Haymon is doing. He received the Chavez Jr purse and paid Chavez Jr his money and/ or percentage from his (Haymon's) account.

    Standard Operating Procedure.

If that is true then Haymon would have to establish that warriors boxing paid him the money and then he gave it to chavez.

with that said, then I can see how that is feasible.

Haymon does not have to establish anything, the burden of proof is on Top Rank and Golden Boy.

there are a lot of over payed boxers, a lot of boxers not fighting their mandatories, a lot of game fixing, a lot of drug test fixing and avoiding, etc. when there is too much money being discussed, very surely the corruption goes up. perhaps the fans should stop paying ppv just to put a stop to this thing from exploding.
