Who's doing the better job promoting fights today? Golden Boy has the name recognition factor for him and his fighters. Top Rank has been around for ages and knows the game.

Who's doing the better job today? PLease give a reason if you can. Thank in advance. :smoke

In terms of developing fighters and building them into superstars, Top Rank without a doubt.

DLH, Floyd and Cotto all groomed by Top Rank...

As far as today I'd say its even but idk If I had to pick one over all or a promotional company that I liked more I'd go with Top Rank.

That can be really good for boxing or really bad for boxing. Should be for the good though.

Who's putting the better cards? Obviously GBP is signing more younger and up and coming talent. But are they necessarily putting better cards with better fighters? Hopkins v. Joe C had a terrible card. DLH vs. Forbes is looking like the same thing. Ridiculously high ticket prices and bad cards gotta take their toll in the long run.

Yeah and its one thing that we gotta realize, Bob Arum is willing to fork out money out of his own pocket to groom a young fighter and/or to put great boxing cards together. Bob doesn't always play the safe game, and that is good for boxing. I think GBP try to be safe all the time trying to make so much money pitting their own fighters together, or just putting together awful cards.

IMO as of late Top Rank puts up better cards or At least on paper they should have been good cards. Bob Arum honestly is busting his ass trying to make boxing better, its not like he is hurting boxing. I'm just glad the "cold war" between GBP and Top Rank is somewhat over, because we had an AWFUL 2006.

Very true. GBP has HBO as well, so it's almost like they don't even have to try. Deep pockets AND Cable TV. Everyone loves to hate Arum, but he's one of the last true promoters.

C'mon man. Saying they're equal is an insult to Arum's card. In terms of main events, GBP is good. But that's partially because that's where the whole purse goes. How can a decent card, top to bottom, be made when there's no money to throw at other attractive fights? That's been my only beef with GPB. As long as they don't think every decent name fighter belongs on PPV. Mosley vs. Judah isn't even PPV worthy IMHO.

how anyone could even consider gbp as being good for boxing is beyond me. what have they done. overpriced ppv with bad undercards. non ppv caliber fights with bad undercards (barrera- fana). with the biggest ppv fight in history, he lowballs one of his fighters (ouma) when he is set to make millions.
yeah gbp is good for boxing.

I'd give it to TopRank. The recent signings of the Peterson brothers will be huge in the next 3 years, especially when Anthony is knocking out Amir Khan for the LW title in front of thousands of traveling Brits in LV. Add to that Kelly being maybe 4-5 wins away from becoming a true white working class hero for millions of struggling Americans in the midwest and elsewhere.
