The British womb is capable of creating an iron chinned gent and scholar like Carl The Cobra Froch. The American womb, meanwhile creates glass chinned disgraces like Eric Crumble and Adrien Broner. :think
I'd say Broner has a pretty good chin to be fair, which I'm quite happy about as it allowed it to take a 12 round pasting from Maidana. He is a disgrace though.
Anyone can go down with the right shot. Nobody has an uncrackable chin. Fact is he got caught cold by a huge shot, recovered, then his chin absorbed that same shot for the rest of the fight. Pure granite.
Difficult list to make in all honesty.... in no particular order. GGG Froch FMJ D. Garcia Lucas Terrence Crawford Provo Hopkins Wach Bradley Pac Pascal Stiverne
Why do people say GGG has an Iron Chin? :huh This hasn't been proven yet. And I also think many people on here overrate Froch's Chin. It is good but not sure it is as good as some on here say.
This man has the p4p #1 active chin in the sport. If you disagree, you are wrong. [yt]6vx1dManWB0[/yt] (pay close attention in particular at the end of the 1st: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=6vx1dManWB0#t=194, the last half minute of the 4th: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=6vx1dManWB0#t=912, this sequence in the 5th, this combo along with a plethora of flush elbows, chopping forearms, and rabbit punches in the eighth: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=6vx1dManWB0#t=1820, and the grand finale: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=6vx1dManWB0#t=2401) [yt]lOfF-MKdXx0[/yt] [yt]-_uhPETw2TY[/yt] Others at or near world class level, who can hit with average or better power, who failed to ever drop or even buzz Ruiz: Antonio Escalante, over 12. (back in his prime, before the knockout loss to Pastrana) Bernabe Concepcion, over 12. (almost had JuanMa Lopez out in 1 in their short war) Tomas Villa, over 10. (solid journeyman known for knocking out unbeaten prospects and having a FOTY contender with Rogers Mtagwa, trading knockdowns) Efrain Esquivias, over 10. (kayoed Rafael Marquez last year) Daulis Prescott, over 6. (brother of Breidis and the man against whom Nicholas Walters claimed his vacant title) Gary Russell Jr., over 10. Arash Usmanee, over 8. (held to a MD) Cristobal Cruz, over 12. (Ruiz W) Wayne McCullough, over 6. (Ruiz W) Granted, the competition faced by Froch is undeniably better overall - but Ruiz hasn't fought bums. All of those are respectable enough names, to varying degrees, and each of them can hit. Ruiz took all of their best and never quit stomping forward, gobbling it all up like Pacman collecting pellets. Yeah, yeah, yeah - Froch gets bonus points for not always having the best defense. Not always...meaning sometimes he does, like when he chose to carefully outbox Abraham instead of slugging with him. Ruiz is more consistent in his utter lack of defense (although he does roll with shots pretty well, hunkering down, chin tucked as he works in his body shots - but that's pretty much the extent of his precautions taken regarding the "...and don't get hit" part of the boxing equation) and unlike Froch has pretty much never had a height or reach advantage over his opponents...and unlike Froch has never seemed 'ready to go' for even a second and has never been down professionally. Don't be shocked if he gives Ramos hell next weekend on the undercard of Tarver vs. Banks - perhaps even giving Rico a close scare on the cards with a MD/SD/draw, after discouraging the Puerto Rican by laughing off his biggest shots and then bringing the hustle with nonstop swarming which I suspect Ramos won't like one bit.
Anyone saying Froch has a chin that is overrated is ****ing mental! He is a fighter who has very poor balance and is therefore caught with punches when off balance and you will naturally go down because of that, he also has very little defence too so takes a vastly greater amount of punches than other fighters at his level and therefore he has the #1 chin in boxing
What is Stiverne doing there? :blood Granted, his TKO loss is controversial, but the fact remains that he was put in serious jeopardy by freaking Demetrice King, whether you agree with the stoppage or not. The only punchers Stiverne has faced since are Chris Arreola, who caught his attention both times with punches, and shot old Ray Austin who not only got his respect but pretty much had Stiverne all wrapped up boxing his ears off before fading late. Let's at least wait until after he eats a few long right hands from Wilder next month before we throw him in with the best p4p chins in boxing, eh? Right now based on all evidence available we can at most say his chin is average, maybe a little suspect.
