I expected Greb to be in my top ten ,but closer inspection showed a lot of his wins were over name guys who were not heavies when he beat them.
Rojas,Renault,Madden,Weinert,Brennan ,and a washed up Smith don't quite cut it.

Bollocks forgot about Braddock. I'd put him at #6

As great as Roy is and was he only had one fight against a weak HW belt holder. The others on the list have multiple Ws against better opposition. Although I was searching for reasons to put him there because of how great he is...at his best he probably beats most on the list

Actually, every fight was above 175. I doubt Holyfield counts, but if he does he's #1.

I don't think that's enough to warrant being included ,but that's just my take.

Maybe but then Holyfield who some people has included shouldn’t count either as a genuine light heavyweight in my opinion.

He only had 3 fights at light-heavy after fact checking, if he won a regional title then maybe i'd count him. Everyone on the list has been a champ/contender so best to leave him off.

Holyfield fought as low as 176lbs ,that's only a pound above the limit.I suppose its up to the individual whether they include him or not.Did Kovalev ever actually weigh inside 175lbs the nights when he defended his title?

By strict definition I think Jimmy Ellis skipped light heavy altogether, although he had one outing at 176.

For non-title fights, a weight limit +1 was a common stipulation — middleweight at 151, welter at 148, etc.

Ali never fought as a light heavy as a pro.

This is Ratsa Goolys cue to reply," you never said they had to be pros" he does it all the time .Everyone knew exactly what the OP was aiming for including this twat.He is a compulsive **** stirrer who gets his jollies by trying to swim against the tide, ie he calls him Clay, who else here but he would do so ? A tiresome, attention seeking , half wit.

Glad I made this post. So Dempsey, Johnson, Walcott all started out fighting lower divisions. Never knew that. Jack Johnson I never would have thought because he’s naturally bigger.

Adam Pollack in his bio of Johnson speculates that when Johnson fought Choynski ,they were both around the super middle range.
In1897 Johnson fought twice for the Texas Middleweight title,in1900 he weighed 168lbs when he fought Jim McCormick, ten months later he fought Choynski.
