I can't have Hopkins in my top ten. Many here have, and I respect your opinions. I just have a problem having him in above the likes of Tiger or LaMotta.

ETM's list is closest to what my non-existent list would be like if I had one. I'm really liking the inclusion of Zale. I also personally favour Hagler over Monzon.

I'm also liking the inclusion of Cerdan on some lists. I've always liked that fighter.

Not a super deep resume, though.

A mix of legacy and head to head list

    1. Greb - No film, but an amazing record. Because he was not tall or a big puncher I wonder about his ability to match up with taller / rangier middles who can hit and were active with their hands.

    2. Robinson - Most skilled of the bunch, and rather powerful too. Untested vs some of the top black middles of his day, and his loss to Turpin makes me wonder. Robinson was better at Welter.

    3. Fitzsimmons - Crippling power to head or body. Very heard to stop as well. Fitz would have to be out boxed.

4.Hagler - Toughest and most durable of the bunch.

    5. Cerdan - Powerhouse with good defense and offense. Must watch the films on him to rate.

    6. Monzon - Like a great long distance runner Monzon slowly separated himself form the pack. More of an attrition puncher without great speed, and somewhat untested vs speedy middles.

    7. Jones - Roy's chin was not an issue at middle, and he easily beat Hopkins and Toney. Outside of Robinson, he had the best skills of the bunch.

    8. Hopkins. Longevity defense, and counter punching are very high.

Over rated: Ketchel and LaMotta. The film on Kethcel does not show him being anything close to a boxer.

Under rated : Ryan and Burley.

Not rated: Langford, who was at his best at 170+

Hard......very hard one to call. I'd have Robinson,Monzon,Hagler and Greb as my top 4,but not quite sure in which order to place them. I'll have to think very closely about it. Same applies to whom I'd feature from numbers 5 - 10.

    Cerdan couldn't carry Monzon's jock.

I have to agree. I think he would´ve been a superstar if not for Monzon´s domination.
    He´s 11 on my list.

I was thinking of Jones a bit earlier on. Not a great at 160 by any stretch, but a H2H nightmare? Oh hell yes.

That is funny. Cerdan is one of the best punching middles with skills, who also happened to have a come forward style with a high guard type of defense.

I take it you have not seen a lot of the film on the man. His loss to LaMotta is due to an injury when LaMotta threw him down and Cerdan was hurt in the fall.

At the end of the day, Cerdan is a borderline pick here. Even if you stress film to an extreme extent he would be very borderline for me.

But stressing more traditional aspects like resume, dominance, career arch, longevity and he's nowhere hear any top ten for me.
