(You can say who you think they are if you want, but you don't have to).

In each scenario, each guy from one group has a fight against each guy in the other group.

    Scenarios:

    1) older boxer is time-machined, from his own day, into the latter boxers time;

    2) latter boxer is time-machined, from his own day, into the earlier boxers time

    3) older boxer is born into latter boxers time, peaking at the same time

    4) latter boxer is born into older boxers time, peaking at the same time.

    -------------

    My picks:

    1) Latter boxers, about 70%

    2) Latter boxers, about 60%

    3) Earlier boxers, about 55%

    4) Earlier boxers, about 60%

    So i'd have -

Ali v Louis (I pick Louis (ducks))

Lewis v Johnson (I pick Lewis)

Frazier v Marciano (I pick Frazier)

Tyson v Wills (I pick...tough one. Christ, I never thought about this one. Will go with Tyson)

Holmes v Jeffries (I pick Holmes)

Foreman v Dempsey (I pick Dempsey)

Holyfield v Schmeling (I pick Holyfield)

Bowe v Walcott (I pick Bowe prime for prime)

Wlad v Patterson (I pick Wlad)

Norton v Charles (I pick Charles)

So 7 for the modern boys and 3 for the old school.

    Thanks for the input, McGrain!

What I was looking for was each guy from one group has one fight with each guy from the other group; so, for example, Tyson would fight each of the older guys once.

Now, given four scenarios, thats 400 match-ups .... i wasn't really looking for people to drop everything and do 400 match-ups. More an off-the-cuff guesstimate.

However, I'm very interested in your ideas about the outcomes of the ten match-ups you did, as a kind of sample; also, in your ideas of who the ten in each group should be.

I'm curious: why was Liston the cutoff?

Liston is eligible for the latter time period.

I picked Liston because he's sometimes seen as the start of the era of (relatively) big heavyweight champions.

Of course, there were some guys before Liston as big or bigger; but from Liston on most champions were near his size.
