Its incredible what Ray Leonard accomplished in his career, and these names are just a start to his resume. I cant think of many (if any) fighters in the modern era that have accomplished so much. I know the man has some haters here on ESB, but you have to give him his due. :yep

    the man is a legend.

but I'd like to mention that even though he beat Hagler, Leonard is not and could not have been a better middleweight than Hagler.

    His resume is top notch.

Plus he's a fun fighter to watch.

Has there been a fighter since to compare? RJJ certainly in terms of talent, but he failed to reach for greatness the way Sugar Ray did. Winning the heavyweight title was mightily impressive but it was against RUIZ - one of the worst heavyweight champions in HISTORY.

Thats true, he only had 37? fights i think. (hence the question mark). He started taking good competition after like..20 fights.

Jones resume isn't anywhere near SRL's. I don't know of a modern fighter who is actually. DLH beat alot of good fighter, but the greats he beat were at the tail end of their careers.

Toney beat some very very good figthers as well. But we know how his reign worked out.

Leonard put off Hagler fight till he saw Hagler faded just a bit. Even so, decision was disputable. He lost to Duran, and I won' t count that sorry excese for a fight (the second) as a great victory. Leonard was one of best past 30 years, I just want to keep some stuf in perscective.
