Give me your top 3 boxing trainers over the last 30 years. Here my 1# Emanuel Steward RIP Made a champ out of Glass chin Lemmux and a glass chinned Klit all in the 90 / 00s Not to mention coached Oliver Mccall to a special Ko of lennox and Hollyfield win over Bowe. His attacking training style and No bs corner advice made him only better, RIP legend. 2# Feddie Roach Amazing ride with HOF ATG PAC. 8 weight division champ. His no bs attacking style coupled with manny perfectly. Mexiecuitioner and his trainer broke alot of mexican hearts along the way. Even made Khan look good in spells, which is not an easy task. 3# Pappachenko Coached todays two of the best HOFFERS and P4P legends in USYK and LOMA. You dont get a better CV than that.
Yeah but those guys had already been world champions when he took over their training. yeah sure he might have improved them but Hearns was probably the only great fighter that he trained right from the beginning of their careers.
I would have to say the following: 1. Floyd Mayweather’s Uncle Roger Mayweather. You can mention all the great fighters he trained etc but he trained the greatest male and female fighters of the time maybe arguably of all time in his nephew “Pretty Boy” Floyd Mayweather and “She Bee Stinging” the daughter of the Greatest, Laila Ali. 2. Floyd Mayweather Senior again you can list the guys he trained but he built the initial foundations in Floyd and when Roger got sick took over as lead trainer after the Cotto fight to ensure the defensive fundamentals were intact, see how he came up with the game plan and strategy to totally defuse Canelo and Pacquiao. 3. Manny Steward who built the Kronk, to many champions to name but a very shrewd operator. People always think of the Kronk offensive style but it’s much more than that based on solid fundamentals and competitiveness and spirit.
Not true at all. The Kronk developed many great fighters and world champions such as Michael Moorer a destructive force at Light Heavyweight, Gerald McClellan, Jimmy Paul,Mike McCallum, Milton McCory, Duane Thomas and the list goes o n and on.
Freddie Roach probably the best trainer with a disability. I have spoken and hear fighters sy they don't want to work with Freddie because they want someone they can talk to and understand and also someone that can keep up. Testament to Pacquiao's loyalty for staying with Freddie Coach Roach.
Tough to say with Roach in the same way it's tough to say with the Mayweather clan. The results were never repeated. Papachenko and Steward have both clearly "imprinted" top level fighters and their style and impact can be seen in the ring with multiple P4P level guys.
What Pappachenko did with his own son is a greater single accomplishment than anything Steward or Roach ever did. In terms of number of champs and wins as pro trainers obviously Steward and Roach have the numbers.
