"That much better" it depends on what you mean. I think he's better, yeah, but I don't think the difference is huge or anything.
So you're rallying for Tyson to be on, despite not beating a single ATG (that was at his best) in his prime while rallying for Ali to be off for the same reason?
Marciano should be out he struggled against older fighters who were at their best at Light Heavyweight, I wouldn't favour him against against most of the very best Heavyweights after the 60s. Unless your rating Marciano as a Cruiserweight ? Then yes he would rate pretty highly. Ruben Olivares never looked unbeatable to me, and lost to Herrera x2 in his prime. I know this sounds crazy, but maybe Inoue over Olivares regarding H2H ? Even though Olivares opposition was better, regarding eye test Inoue for me rates very highly H2H past/present. Salvador Sanchez as much as I love him as a fighter, had immense trouble vs Ford, Green Nelson, Cowdell. Although he always did find a way to win which is a great attribute of his. But it's very possible he could of lost to Pedroza, Arguello, not sure I would rate him top 20 but I love him as a fighter so I have no complaints. The rest of your list I have no real issue with. But possibly fighters like Pryor, Armstrong, Inoue, Napoles, Holmes, Lewis, R.Lopez, could make the cut.
Instead of doing a top 20 i'll do one for each weightclass as i'm terrible at trying to rate fighters in order. Heavyweight = Lennox Lewis Cruiserweight = Rocky Marciano Light Heavyweight = Michael Spinks Super Middleweight = Roy Jones Jr Middleweight = Marvin Hagler Jr Middleweight = Thomas Hearns Welterweight = Sugar Ray Robinson Jr Welterweight = Jose Napoles Lightweight = Roberto Duran Super Featherweight = Floyd Mayweather Jr Featherweight = Tough one for me i'll go with Pep or Armstrong, under modern rules i think Pep beats Saddler just my opinion. Super Bantamweight = Wilfredo Gomez Bantamweight = Naoya Inoue Super Flyweight = Johnny Tapia ? i have no idea we have the likes of Gonzalez, Estrada, and even Inoue who fought at this weightclass. Flyweight = Mark Johnson controversial pick but for me he was special in his prime a perfect blend of skills/offense. Jr Flyweight = No idea TBH Minimumweight = Ricardo Lopez.
the good thing about these kinds of lists is that no one can actually prove themselves right or be proven wrong everybody wins
Its H2H P4P. So, who around or under c. 185-188 lbs would you favour to beat Marciano? If none or not many, you'll think him at least worth consideration.
No he doesn't. He beat an old fat past his prime Holmes who grabbed the money to purchase a building he wanted in Easton and a slightly past it above his weight with shot knees in Spinks. Tyson never beat a prime ATG and lost to guys who amounted to 0 in the division.
