Tony Thompson, John Ruiz, Eddie Chambers, Monte Barrett, Chris Arreola, Jason Estrada, Kevin Johnson, Travis Walker, Brian Minto, Mike Mollo, Malik Scott, Hasim Rahman, Jameel McCline, Lamon Brewster.

These are probably the best US heavyweights in no order.

Moorer, Holyfield and Davaryll Williamson are finished. JD Chapman & Donnell Holmes are just prolonging their unbeaten records till they get soundly beaten once they step up in class.

I look at a list like that and just shake my head in disgust. I wish Floyd Sr or someone would take one of these American Heavyweights and train them it is getting sad.

Chapman has admitted he isn't ready for the big names yet, but he would destroy Fields.

Ruiz, Chambers, Brock,..............then who knows, Thompson, Arreola, McCall, Rahman, McCline, Brewster, Toney, Minto, Mollo, Estrada, Walker, Scott, Barrett, Holyfield, Johnson . They're all in the same boat really, pick any two you want to fill up the next 2 spots but I feel it would be disrespectful to the US to list any of those fighters(in their current state) in a top 5 .

Maskaev has US citizenship doesn't he ?, he can go in then .

Seriously that is a sad state of affairs in comparison to previous eras, these euro plodders are starting to dominate and watching them fight is like watching paint dry!
I hope some good prospects will come through soon everyone loves watching the heavies!

Thompson tops the list with some good wins and size, southpaw style. Chambers has good hands but his work rate was 2nd vs Povetikin.Best puncher of the group is Areola but a little rough around the edges(Wild Bull) Barrett was dominated by Vlad and Valuev but is competitve. Brock destroyed by Vlad but on the list. Minto has a decent resume and deserves a fight vs Povetkin or Boystov or possibly one of the champs,Kid is game. Briggs went into hibernation but would be a solid foe for Chagaev, Peter.....No one else on the horizon to lose sleep over
