Honestly man, there is not a cats chance in hell you can ever make a case for maxim being better than harold johnson. Hell even if i tried i couldnt make a case. Maxim's only weapon(his jab) is exceeded 5x by harolds far superior jab not to mention johnson holding a clear edge in every other skillset category. Against common opposition, Harold scored wins over MOORE and Charles, while maxim was unable to score a win over any of them. Johnson past his prime managed to rule the lightheavyweight division in one of the tougher eras in lightheavyweight history(early 1960s)...and he was the clear consensus # 2 lightheavyweight throughout the 1950s behind legendary archie moore. While archie moore outclass maxim winning 12 of 15 rounds 3 times, in the title defense vs johnson, johnson floored moore and was ahead on points going into round 14(and moore ducked johnson after that never gave him another title shot until he was stripped).

On film, Maxim looks very mediocre, while on film johnson appears as one of the best boxing technicians in boxing history(of ANY era).

Moore ducked Johnson? Yes he only fought him 5 times Johnson won a close decision ONCE,in their last fight defending his title 38 year old Archie improved on his previous performances against Johnson by koing him, taking the fight immediately after having being decisioned by Johnson ,thats a strrange way to duck some one .Moore getting on for 40 was having tortures making LH and as he said "Harold couldn't draw his breathe at the gate".

"Harold Johnson is the N. B. A. light-heavyweight titleholder. Moore was stripped of his claim to the crown by New York for failure to defend his crown against Harold Johnson."- Feb 14 1962 Archie Moore

PROVIDENCE, R. I. (UPI) -- Archie Moore, stripped of his light heavyweight title by the National Boxing Association two weeks ago for failing to defend his title against Harold Johnson.- Nov 4, 1960

I would like to add.........From 1957-1961 Harold Johnson was the ANNUEL Ring Magazine contender 4 out of those 5 years, with 1958 being the only year he wasnt rated # 1, but number 2!!!! have you ever heard of a # 1 contender for a half a decade being denied a title shot that long???

Who won the Fights ? Have I posted any incorrect results ? Source for Shkor being 6 4 or as you said earlier 65 ,still waiting.Suzie .I know Moore was stripped of his crown for failure to defend it ,there is a very good account of it in the book "In this Corner " spoken In Moore's own words.I presented the results of their 5 fights ,and commented that in their last one when Archie was at least 38 he stopped Johnson,I also said that Johnson was not a draw at the box office ,anything incorrect in my statements? Fact is Archie fought Johnson 5 times and beat him 4 the last one by ko.Have a look at Moores resume at that tme ,his weight was up and down like a *****' drawers.Do you not think he should be cut some slack for holding on to his title ,Christ he waited 10 years for a chance to win it!

    #1. Ezzard Charles
    #2. Archie Moore
    #3. Michael Spinks
    #4. Bob Foster
    #5. Billy Conn
    #6. Harold Johnson
    #7. Gene Tunney
    #8. Tommy Loughran
    #9. John Henry Lewis
    #10. Roy Jones

Charles has to be #1, It simply doesn't make any sense to rate any of the others above him. I think Moore's claim on the #2 spot is just as solid as Charles' claim on the #1 spot, Spinks was very dominant an unbeaten at the weight against some excellent fighters. Foster may have been able to defeat every other LHW in history and had a dominant reign, and then the order can be changed around a little, but I feel that my top 4 are secure in their positions.
