Top10 Mexican boxers of All Time

1. Salvador Sanchez. This isn't a pitty vote for a guy who left this world too young. Sanchez is the most skilled and acomplished boxer from Mexico.
2. Ricardo Lopez. A great boxer/puncher. Slighted for being small. A world chhampion mimmumweight & light flyweight for about 11 years. Undefeated 51-0-1.
3. Julio Cesar Chavez. Only Floyd Mayweather and Alexis Argulio are better at 130. Underrated at 135, and showed great durabillity at 140.
4. Marco Antionio Barrera. (He's one of my favrote boxers of all time so I will admit to bit of bias on my part). Barrera gets the nod over his comteperaies. Marquez and Morales. Despite having losses to Marquez and Morales, he did beat Morales twice. He was only really beaten by Jounior Jones and Manny Pacquiao.
5. Juan Manual Marquez. A great counter puncher and underatted all around boxer. A three division world champion. Has the potional to be #1 on this list. He gets the nod over Morales since I think he'd win if they fought.
6. Erik Morales. He kind of gets the short end of the stick. He did beat Pacquiao, lost to him twice. Never fought Marquez leaving me to guess who'd win, and lost twice winning once to Barrera. Outside of that he has put together an exlent career including some recent close losses.
7. Vicente Saldivar (From this point I'm going to admit to not being as knowldgable or confident in my picks as I fell I am with my first 6 picks.)
Saldivar was a very good boxer with a very solid resume.
8. Israel Vazquez. Vazquez gets over looked fighting in an era with Barrera, Morales and the Marquez brothers. He won 2/3 over Rafael Marquez, and has put together a very good career in the shdow of his more famous country men.
9. Humberto Gonzalez. Other than Lopez Gonzalez who might be the best little man in boxing. Probbly the best puncher, either himself or Jimmy Widle. beat Michael Carbajal 2/3.
10. Carlos Zarate. Talent wise I like Zarate a lot. You don't go 66(63)-4-0 without being really good. He just dose not have the quility wins the guys I picked above him have.

There are guys I left off this list not because I don't think they have the talent but I'm less impressed by their resumes than the guys I ranked here.

Nice to see Morales so high, amazing fighter in his prime & true warrior of the ring even today past his best :good

Would be better to have a top 20, there is just so many great mexican fighters

 

Not everybody agrees with incompetent judging & anyway... 2-1 with no real superiority shown thru 36 rds is a bit different from 3-0, all fights won clearly ie. Charles v Moore.... you then have to go to their achievements outside of their rivalry & Morales has did more, not including beating 2 men that stopped Marco in his prime, Jones & Pac.

Side note - Morales was never KO`d in his prime either, not even close & regarding Barrera doing better in exchanges, Morales did better from distance when using his boxing skills vs Barrera, they each had their strengths.
