I caught it....didnt see or hear anything that would make me think he will ever get within smelling distance of the top 20 not to mention a belt, not to mention a klitschko held belt.
I missed it I caught the last 5 minutes which were all commercials. I had to click the info button 5 or 6 times because I couldn't believe somebody like Tor Hamer was on. I was pleasantly surprised.
This is why I was pleasantly surprised. Even, most Boxing fans probably don't know who he is. He is a HW prospect, 9-0.
When would you ever hear anything like that in an interview? You learn that in the ring, not in a chair. I personally like Hamer. Unfortunately for him, he looked like crap in his only national TV appearance so far. But his fundamentals are as solid as any heavyweight out there. Great balance, great footwork, great body movement. A heavyweight who's in shape and moves like an old-school boxer. Pretty rare these days. Still have no idea if his shortcomings (small for a HW, unknown chin, questionable stamina so far) will allow him to get near the top though.
It was interesting to hear he has a college degree, his parents have a Masters and PhD, so he's got education to fall back on. It's good to see boxers that can speak well and articulate themselves also. I thought it was funny that DiBella was on the show there saying that Hamer will fight for the title in 3-4 years and "maybe he (Hamer) can be the one to slay Klitschko". Hamer's got a long road ahead of him, and in 3-4 years both Klitschkos will we done. Vitali probably will be done next year or in '11 at the latest. He looks like a decent heavyweight at this point. I think Deontay Wilder is better though, and has the size to compete in this era of superheavies. I'd like to see them matchup when they both get 20-25 wins if they are on the same track.
