    It won't be easy though.

Hatton doesn't use the jab as much as he should, and Cotto used the jab at the beggining, but the second he got sloppy, Torres who's very dangerous when hurt, capitalized.

If Hatton plans on smothering Torres or neglecting to use his jab, I think that Torres will land something big.

Like I said, I think it's a difficult fight because of the style matchup, but it would be a very respectable win should Hatton pull it off.

Would be an exciting fight, Torres is dangerous as Miguel Cotto found out. Still at 140 Ricky is a beast and he should grind out a fairly comfortable UD. Torres can bang thats for sure but in saying that so could Kostya Tszyu. Hatton 9 rounds to 3. I actually called this fight a while back for being his most likely comeback fight. Fair play to him if it is aswell taking on someone as dangerous as Torres on the back of a spanking and his first pro loss. No doubt some people will take digs at him tho if this fight does come off.

And thats fine by you. So dont fight the best out there. Simply fight they guy who will make you the most £££ and then call yourself the best. Of course i see it now! Thanks for that stunning moment of clarity!

That's what they all do. Hatton, DLH, PBF, Hopkins - they're all the same. It's not right but Hatton shouldn't be singled out for his rather lame actions.

If Witter? That Hatton doesn't like him and would rather see his career stagnate. I actually see Hatton's point.

If it was anybody else that has done what Witter has? There would be no excuse whatsoever. This is of course relative, as no-one has done that much at all at light-welter to deserve a shot.

Witter's career has long stagnated, he hasn't needed Hatton's help

So Ricky won't fight you, what the **** have you been doing in your other 30 odd fights?

Maybe but Hattons resume isnt even comparable to B Hop or DLH. The afore mentioned 2 have gone up in weight and fought some of the best there division has to offer. Hatton wont even fight the best guy in his own division.

His a world champ. He did that on his own. Id hardly call that stagnating. Wether Hatton fights Witter or not his career will continue. BUT Hatton will be known as a fraud and a ducker. And rightfully slow.

Scurla i like you but you spend way too much time on here slagging Ricky Hatton off it's almost as if its part of your daily routine. Could you sleep at night if you didn't have at least one dig at ricky a day?

Are you asking me to make an excuse for Hatton? I think he doesn't need help coming up with his own excuses:rofl

My post was referring to a situation I would like to see, not to the show we have now. In an ideal world Hatton would have to fight Witter, and he would have an option to refuse and get an L on his record and go down in ratings, or even be disqualified for a year.

if that's the case then maybe hatton should just retire then seen as he's cleared out the division. either that or give collazo his rematch at 147.

    Exactly

The excuses for Witter being 34 and only just capturing a world title are as bad as Hatton's for not fighting him

He could and should have made much more of himself, and forced Hatton into a fight, or at least made a real name for himself

As a Brit, Hatton has given me far more fights to really look forward to

you can flap your gums all you want but this is the truth....

witter is hatton's main threat at 140.

witter is recognised as hatton's number one contender by publications such as the ring as well as the majority of boxing fans.

hatton has to either defend his title against witter or at least one of paulie or torres or give up the position as champ as he is holding the division hostage.

    end of story.

You sound incredibly defensive, considering I'm neither a massive Hatton fan, nor am I defending his continual ducking of Witter

I'm just saying Witter should have done a lot more with himself. Hatton is in a position where either of those other guys you mention are credible fights, when Witter should have made himself a bigger name long ago by fighting in the US or trying not to bore the shite out of everyone

Witter is a wasted talent, and Hatton has given far more to British boxing. Therefore I find it disturbing people sit here and constantly have a go at Hatton whilst Witter is a saint
