I am not a Witter fan. Im a fan OF BOXING! Im not some casual arm chair slouch who only took note because Ricky was fighting PBF the other day! Iv been watching boxing for a minute. And this is what fighters of yesteryear did. They fought the best. And when someone called them out they fought them too. If they didnt we would have been denied some of the best rivalrys of all time like SRL Hagler and Benn Eubank. These men hated each other. They didnt make no excuses. The simply gloved up and fought.

Witter has nowhere near the public following or regonition so I suppose its only logical that he uses Hatton as a leg up.

This is the Super Lightweight decider and should be scheduled at the end of the year.

He doesnt need a leg up. He needs his rightful shot. There was a time when Hatton and Witter were on par. Then Hatton established himself as world class and beat Kostya. I dont believe Hatton ever expected Witter to keep up let alone be his main threat in the division. Well the time is now and Ricky can stop running and stand and fight.

That´s bull****, not only IMO. Witter is by most fans and by most experts (recognized boxing magazines, boxing reporters, etc.) the best 140 lbs- fighter behind Hatton, so it´s just normal that Ricky makes that fight happen... if you want to be the nr. 1, you have to fight the best outthere, not always making excuses...

Whats bull****, that most folks couldnt pick Witter of the street if there was a giant billboard behind him that said : JUNIOR WITTER - WBC SUPER LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD!

Being good and being famous are two seperate things, and if Witter got a chance to fight Hatton it would raise his income and recognition. Im not quite sure what there is to argue? Its not like im comparing Hearns/Leonard?

You mean like the way 90% of Britain and the US knew who Collazo as and that he held a dumbed down version of the WBA? You mean like that?

Now ricky hatton can't take a punch. Right....

Some of you guys are idiots. Power is the last thing to go and Zoo hit him a lot. Maybe Mayweather was better than people expected, maybe Mayweather has excellent timing, accurate, fast, with power that can hit you with pnchues that you don't see. That "Check Left Hook" caught Hatton coming in at the right spot, he never saw the punch coming.

Torres does not = Mayweather in any way. He can't fight like mayweather and his punches aren't sneaky.

God I hate that.... "If <insert name> can KO/hurt <insert name> then <insert name> can definitely KO him." This was the same thing people were saying when May and Hatton were going to fight (and even Cotto and Mosley, because people like Torres and Chop Chop had him hurt) but it was reverse... "If Zoo couldn't KO Hatton, then Mayweather sure as hell can't."

With my last post I didn´t meant you, I meant in general, I´m sick of these double standards, people say "Why shoudl Hatton fight Witter now? He´s just fighting bums in Europe...", well, after a beating Hatton got from PBF than it would be a easy fight for him to get back in the mix, or not? Or the same people who say that Witter isn´t a big name for Ricky, but fighters like Urango are big names for example? You know what I mean?

What are you on about, and in what regard? Witter is in a different boat, as Hatton is a local fighter of higher popular regard. Its not about comparing, its about the benefits attached to fighting someone who can raise your profile and recognition.

    Is that a little clearer?

It will be a good fight, what there is to do for Hatton in 140, he already is #1
    the others who follow are:

    Witter (will fight D. Hopkins 03/08 )
    Malignaggi (?)
    Torres (?)
    D. Hopkins (will fight Witter 03/08 )
    Castillo (KO by Hatton)

Both Malignaggi or Torres are free, as a boxing fan I'll like to see the fight against Torres better, we know that when you are #1 everyone will want to fight you it's only natural for Witter, Torres or even Paulie to call Hatton.

Come to think of it this fight is somewhat intriguing. Right now the champions are Gavin Reese, Paul Malignaggi, Junior Witter an Ricardo Torres.

We can pretty much scratch Witter out of the equation.

So we have three left. I haven't seen any Gavin Reese fight so I wont speak about that match up.

PM i think is a safer bet in regards that he lacks punching power but may be able to outbox Hatton.

Ricardo Torres is crude but may be able to KO him if Hatton leaves himself open. I think that if Torres catches him with the same punch that PBF did he might not get up. I did not get to see Torres/Holt but I know that Holt is more elusive and faster than Hatton and Torres was able to tag him and hurt him.

Im sure that both Torres and PM wont have a problem going to the UK.

These are the belt holders and we know that Hatton has gone after belts before even though the opposition wasn't a mainstream attraction, but in England it really wont matter.

You can't say that Tszyu was a beast puncher and couldn't put Hatton away. Hatton was able to neutralize the right hand of Tzsyu so he was never really hit with it.

Some of thr anti-Hatton crew quite like the look of Torres, it will be interesting what they think of him if ricky were to beat him.

I think style wise, this is probably the most best match out of all the 'champs'. Torres is a come forward banger who has some pedigree, definately a worth while fight for Ricky, but i still cant help but think HBO will use this to hype a Malignaggi fight ... I dont care how much they like him i just cant get excited about the guy.

Ricky needs to fight Witter soon.
