I dont want to hear a damn thing about how fast or good Pavlik is. He should get 0 credit for beating Espino a guy with no power who came to trade shots with a power puncher.

I am waiting for a Martinez rematch with Williams, let Pavlik get in line. Last night was a total setup.

he didnt take the fight b/c he was looking for credit. he took it b/c he was told he had to fight. he said he didnt want to fight this early and wanted to wait until next month. on top of that, pav doesnt dance around. he goes toe to toe w/ everyone so what exactly is your point. doesnt matter who it is. miranda has how many ko's of the year and has sent how many people through the ropes? you have to be one bitter person to genuinely not want to see pav/williams.

It is a setup so Pavilik will have a good showing worthy of fighting at the top level. Called a "tune up" bout. He can fight a tomato can for a return bout. This just gives the match up between he and Williams more meat.

After Pavlik's latest run with injury he should have had a warm up fight before PW anyway.

Someone please explain why Pavlik and Williams did not fight in December?

Last I heard they were signed to fight this month.

then I get williams vs Martinez and Pavlik vs some nobody.

    What did I miss?

But so many of the Pavlik nut rangers are claiming that he will beat PW easy, and that PW isnt good. If that is the case then why should he need a tune-up fight.

Pavlik has fought soft except for FOUR fight Miranda, Taylor, Taylor and Hopkins. Other then that his career is full of Espino level fighter. Enough is Enough. Many other fighter get raked over that coals for having a much stronger resume then that of Pavliks. Its time for him to get a taste of that as well.:yep

You missed the fact that Kelly signed to fight Paul Williams but Paul Williams NEVER SIGNED to fight Kelly Pavlik.

Basically, you don't want Pavlik anywhere near Williams. I don't blame you. Williams isn't ready for the best at 160. He should stay at 154 and try to clean it out. You also don't want to have to give Pavlik credit if he knocks Williams out because you are a hater and therefore you would rather deprive the real fans of the sport from a great fight than have to give KP credit for taking on a worthy challenger. Pathetic.

I am starting to believe Williams can't clean out 154. I give Martinez more credit than most for having some power, but he isn't a true banger. I think Williams will be felled sooner rather than later and is going to have a short career.

Pavlik MORE than deserves to fight Paul Williams...get in line? **** that...Williams lost that fight to martinez...he got exposed again just like against Quintana...i like Williams and would have bet on him beating Pavlik...but after his showing against martinez and pavliks strong showing...it could be closer than i thought...Pavlik may stop him

Goosen is saying that they weren't signed. He just made that statement. Did you follow the link? I'm quoting Goosen. Why would they have to initial the contracts now if they are already signed? Do we get to discredit EVERTHING Goosen just said in his statement then?

"Just a few factual comments starting with Paul Williams never pulled out of any fight with Kelly Pavlik as Kelly proclaimed in Mr. Vester's article prior to his loss to Bernard Hopkins. No contract was signed, hence the ability for them to fight Hopkins. As a matter of fact, despite what Bob said, there was no contract signed for December 5 either as discussions were ongoing."

Here's the thing though, Williams face a fast, slick, counter punching, lefty. Martinez had many of the same tools that gave Williams problems against Quintana. Pavlik faced a light hitting, come foward fighter, with lttle power who stood right in front of him. Styles make fights. Williams fought a guy who is a stylistic problem for him. Pavlik fought a guy that was tailor made for him. Basically, the last fight of both fighters should not affect your opinion of what would happen if they fought eachother.

I'm not sure what the fight would have been a set up for and no one was proclaiming Espino to be a top middleweight. He is a fringe contender who was outgunned but still came to fight. I'd put Espino above Lockett and slightly below Rubio. Pavlik looked solid considering he was coming off an injury and a slightly longer than normal layoff. And I don't think for a second he was ducking Williams but enough is enough he needs to face one of the top middleweights next. Preferably Williams.

Goosen knows better after Martinez and is going to price himself out of the fight. He is still saying he wants a 50/50 split and co promotion rights. That is being disrespectful to the linear champ to make those demands and I wouldn't bet on that happening. Turns out he is calling Arum a liar, point blank, and saying they never signed the contract to fight on Dec. 5!
