just been looking around on youtube for some new terry norris (due to the norris resurgance on esb this past month.) anyways i just watched his fight with laurant boudouani.....atsch he's just not there at all,he is all over his legs, no coherent defence, just walking in and throwing punches. he shows some of his past greatness, like his peach of a left hook he lands at the end of round 4. but that was after he was flailing his hands as some sort of defence when he was hurt moments earlier. not only that but boudouani fights and moves like brian strege and is slow as molassas anyway, who even makes norris look slow and plodding in comparison. it's almost like controlled falling i wont even start to talks about the uneeded punches he takes throughout the fight. I don't like watching his last fights when he's so badly declined. He was known for gym wars too, which probably resulted in him suffering some brain damage. I heard that his speech is pretty bad nowadays.
Age, punishment taken. A young fighter can still be shot. Meldrick Taylor took too much punishment and was shot at age 26. He probably took part in intense Philly gym wars, took the bad beating against Chavez, tough fight with Brown, then was stopped by Norris. He was still looking pretty good in 1991, although not quite what he was pre-Chavez. But by the time he fought Espana on Halloween night in 1992, he just looked awful. Punch resistance had slipped, reflexes had diminished. Plus he was facing a difficult style matchup as well. De La Hoya had some tough bouts, but no real terrible beatings taken. He was generally pretty good on defense. With him, it was more the age, and the weight of 147 didn't help either. You'd seen his legs get slower over the years, and although his hands weren't as quick as they had been, they were still pretty fast. He showed some nice defensive skills against Mayweather, which indicated that his reflexes were still fairly sharp. Against Forbes, he looked so-so. But the Pacquiao fight, he just hit the wall.
