If you look at Fraizer's left hook with wich he has knocked down Ali, Foreman's combo of left uppercut/right hook against Cooney, Hearn's right hand against Duran, Lewis' 1-2 against Rahman, Wlad's 1-2 against Brock and left hook against Pulev, Whyte's left hook against Chisora - they all were perfect punches. But a lot of ATG punchers had their "Touch of sleep" moments, when they knocked down or out opponents with the punches that either didn't look hard or were just glancing blows. - Lennox Lewis first knockdown against Ruddock - George Foreman KO against Moorer - Mike Tyson knockdown against Savarese - Wlad's first knockdowns against Povetkin and Leapai and brutal KTFO of Eddie Chambers (yeah, Wlad's power was amazing) - Vitali's KO vs Hide - Zhang also put some people down with far less than his best punches - strangely, but Kevin Lerena's knockdown of Dubois also falls in this category (Lerena surely has underrated power) What other examples of "touch of sleep" moments do you remember? I mean real, not dives like Malik Scott vs Wilder or Bruce Seldon against Mike Tyson
Ingo has been described as doing this to Dick Richardson. "Knockout drops" have also been used to describe what Mark Breland frequently did.
I don't actually remember that guy fighting. It was the ring walk and then poof, the wife was shaking me awake for drooling on the sofa cushions again.
I legit don't think Iron Mike landed a real shot in that fight but that Ali punch was stiff, he jarred Liston's neck as he came in. original question: Lance Whitaker completely destroying Oleg Maskaev with a light jab. Even Whitaker looked absolutely shocked that Maskaev melted
Excellent call on Whitaker vs Maskaev. And not only Whitaker knocked him out with a light punch, but it was brutal, really heavy knockout. Maskaev's chin was about as good as David Price's one
Not sure if this quantifies. Bobby wasn't exactly known as a lights out puncher. This content is protected
Felix Trinidad's first knockdown of Troy Water looked like a glancing blow, but Waters was clearly out of it. Even the announcer seemed confused by it. Here it is (timestamped) This content is protected
Mike Tyson's KO of Botha with a punch that was a short right cross that looked like it traveled maybe 6in. Tyson's KO blows usually looked impressive. This one didn't at all. And not a KO punch, but how about the first right hook Zhang landed on Wilder? It grazed Wilder's nose, yet spun him around and scrambled his brain.
Whittaker-Maskaev is about the most suspicious "knockout" I've seen in boxing. There's no way that punch did that kind of damage. Poor acting job by Maskaev on top of it all. Here's the time-stamped clip... This content is protected
