EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have talked about this endlessly with people over the years and I have learned first hand through experience that... heart, desire, dedication, hunger, etc etc is not limited to poor, oppressed people. Man, look at middle class, two parent home Vinny Paz....I don't care who you mention in the game, nobody was hungrier, tougher, meaner (in the ring) than Vinny Paz.

hope you ain't referring to me. i said in response to the original thread starter, theres more crime in us cities than in western european cities. obviously there are some other areas and third world nations that would have the worst us cities beat and by far.

those quoting hamed on "toughness" ought to remember this guy quit after his first loss and than spent the rest of his late 20 and early 30's speeding around in his expensive cars until he killed someone.

obviously middle class to upper class kids can be raised to be tough and a lot of middle class kids are. but if you survive a bleak upbringing, there's a high percentage you'll be pretty tough.

when I clicked on this thread I was expecting a cool video about Hopkins' early days, not some noob with 10 posts whining about how other fighters are more ghetto than he is.

That's all good, and I understand where you're coming from, but you try to go to their hood.

You think those Africans you talk about walk around in their hood?

    It's the same thing.

The hood in central American, South America, and while I've never been, Africa for sure, is MUCH, MUCH, worse than the hood in America.

I'm talking, no street lights, dirty ass narrow streets that smell like sewage. People smoking crack on the streets, barb wire, tranvestites, and an eery wind unlike anything I've seen in the states.

    And that ain't ****.

My boy is from Guyana, mother ****ers walk around with AK-47's and those aren't even the bravest guys around. Just like in Jamaica, the man that leads the pack usually has a machete.

You might think where you live is hood, but it ain't **** compared to other places in the world. Yeah, yeah, you got to be wary of gangs and you can't show fear just like any other place in the world that would be considered, "hood," but if you think where you're at compares to those places I just listed, you are DELUSIONAL.

Don't go off of people that came there from other countries, because I guarentee you that they wouldn't walk the streets at night where they live either, and I'm pretty sure you wouldn't either.

And if you hear someone whistle, it's already too late.

Its not how "tough" was your youth. Its about how you managed to fight your way out.

Bernard has lived a disciplined life for the last 25 years. He's dominated himself.

Now dominating an opponent is one thing, taming your own self is something else, and more so when the stats are stacked against you like was the case with bernard.

I couldn't agree more. These people who have never had to struggle a day in their life have no clue but are so quick to call Hopkins and other people from the hood fake, like they're making **** up. People in the hood can be very brutal and people get robbed, shot or murdered every day. It's a everyone for themselves mentality that can take a toll quickly on the weak.

I don't think Hopkins is a fake at all.

Prison is a whole nother level.

You can be in the hood and manage to get out with your pride without joining gangs. Granted, you might miss out on some of the things that the other kids got to "enjoy" when they were young, but at least you won't be stuck in a situation you can't get out of by the time you're 18.

Seriously though, I don't care how hood it gets in America, it cannot compare to the hoods in Africa and Central and South America.

    It's not even CLOSE.

And I can't describe this to people unless they've been there because they have no idea.

There are some areas that the cops don't even go near in places I'm talking about.

****, go outside the tourist areas in Jamaica. You'll see what I'm talking about. It's no joke over there.

****, someone starts a fight in the club over there, someone is gonna get chopped up with a machete. No joke.

Someone starts a riot, **** riot police and **** rubber bullets.

The military comes in and pierces everybody in their way. ****, they still stone people over there.

The hood in America is TAME compared to those places.

This is just another example of American arrogance and ethnocentrism. Everyone in America thinks they're hard, but when they get outside their comfort zone, they get reduced just like everybody else.
