Toughest decisions cornermen have made?

A cornerman is responsible for keeping his fighter safe and knowing when to call it quits or keep it going. Some tough decisions had to be made in the past. I'd say Eddie Futch stopping the Ali-Frazier III fight was the toughest decision to ever make.

 

Robert Garcia letting Margarito go 12 rds with Pac. It was hard to watch.

 

Nazim insisting that Mosley take two more rounds of punishment against Pac after Mosley pleaded to stop the fight on his stool after the 10th.

I completely agree with your Eddie Futch call. That call was going to change history. His man was going to be forever second best. It would psychologically damage Frazier for the rest of his life. But, at least he had a rest of his life.

 

What would of happened if Frazier had come out for round 15..?

 

Ali was about to quit himself, Frazier just quit before Ali had the chance just goes to show how tough of a fight it was.

Ali wanted to quit, but Dundee would not stop it. Frazier did not want to quit, but Futch stopped it.

Both guys probably would of come out for the last round, and i actually think somebody would of died as a result of that. On so many levels that fight was probably one of the most brutal fights of all-time. The heat and humidity, and also fighting under those ring lights would not be medically allowed in today's big fights in my opinion.

Even though both guys where not in their prime, this fight dramatically aged and chronically affected both guys.

WOW the second a fighter doesn't even believe he can win anymore you know your going lose. Shane ran in the fight so he didn't take too much punishment, a wise decision from Shane.

 

I would have thrown in the towel in round 9 after he was taking those shots to the head.

It must have been difficult for Corrales' cornermen when he got knocked down twice by Castillo. Was Corrales' dad present in that fight?

 

Joe Goosen was Chico's chief second at the time. He told him he
had to stop Castillo while he was putting Chico's mouthpiece in, so
he wasnt even close to stopping it. Turned out to be a good call
