:think I have to admit, I'm kinda curious. Been looking around their site and I said why the hell not, and submitted a preliminary application. Anyone ever tried it out? Seems like there's good athletes with poor boxing skills in these things, which is not to say one can't get hurt.... From a training perspective, seems like one should concentrate on counterting and getting the needed stamina to go all out for 3 rds.
I believe their rounds are one minute. So if your someone who trains at a boxing gym and do minute drills of non stop punching for a minute surely you could rack points up easily enough. We had a dude who made it to the olympic trial finals in Salt Lake City, do the toughman contest and beat everybody up badly. Kind of a step down if you ask me and now he can't fight amateur anymore since he received money in a prize fight.
I have had a few am fights but that was ages ago, in another state, and I aint gonna tell em. I dont care to do AMs again anyways. But I kind of miss the sport and wouldnt mind making a few bucks if I can.
I don't think that is true. And even if it is nothing a little lie wont fix. They hardly care about checking on your back ground. I know multiple people who have competed in toughman and won it who also have amateur experience.
my cousin has won 2 toughman and i worked his corner at the world toughman. and my buddy just won his first one.the thing about it is toughman is a little different than boxing as the conditioning is different.train for two minute rounds at a fast pace rather than 3 min rounds reserved. then about a week away pick up some hard one minute rounds of sparring to get mentally prepared for the pace
I may have been mistaken, I think it's once you fight in a toughman you can't fight in amateurs anymore. Idk, I know it affects something with being able to compete as an amateur.
Once you've fought in a Toughman, you cant compete in Amatuers any more, since a Toughman is a prize fight.
