Yep that was Towers, against Gregory Tony. From a purists perspective, an abomination of a fight.. I found it really entertaining though, with Tony wanting no part of it, trying to throw his own towel in etc, then deciding he could actually win and nearly doing so with the British ref doing all he could to save Towers.
Yeah he looked good, was a bit of test for him really and he came through. Shailezov seemed to know a few tricks, that Froch-style jab from low was catching Tso a lot. He was getting hit early but Shailezov was always most dangerous early on. Tso has a good engine, throws a lot and doesn't mind a bit of a fight. Good for the crowd. Not sure he'll be fighting in the Philippines any time soon though mate, probably Hong Kong all the way now provided they put on enough cards. You going to the races tonight?
nah, I rarely go racing. Could meet for a beer at the next boxing card if you fancy. Overall I was impressed with the event last night, well organised with the video sequences before the fights, decent birds etc. I was at Tso's debut last year, this event was miles better so hopefully there's a proper market for these events here now.
Chisora hasn't got a licence, and we all know that the Fury fight won't happen whilst both are fighting on different networks. Kell Brook's run to win the belt outright was nearly as bad - Barry Jones, McIntyre, Elwell and Lomax. He did eventually fight Jennings, but he'd already won the belt outright by that point. Stuart Hall also faced a fairly underwhelming bunch to win the belt outright, including shot versions of Napa and Power.
Good points. Whatever you say about Harrison and Skelton they were both Europeans champions, so although they were past their prime they still had a decent record/experience etc. I'm not sure putting Towers in with Price would be the right move really. You're suggesting that Price KOs Towers right? So why would HP sacrifice Towers when they could reschedule Browne-Towers? Then, say Browne wins, he can take the credit for beating RT, force a Commonwealth fight with Price who would likely vacate anyway. @BettySwollocks Will do. The races here are brilliant though. Looking forward to the next show was good to see some live boxing again!
Pianeta's German promoter (SES?) won the purse bid for that fight. I think it's very unlikely that Towers will travel to Germany to defend that belt though.
Wrong. Tom Dallas has at least SOME skills. Anyone who say Faulty Towers staggering around the ring like a drunkard when he fought a guy named Tony several months ago knows he has NO hope of making even a ripple.
Does he though - really?? Tor Hamer sparked him out in less than 30 seconds atsch Hell, a 49 year old Matt Skelton demolished him too. Dallas is appalling (what are his specific skills you mention?) - Towers is even worse. He looks a couple of years ahead of Flintoff, at best :good
Towers would KO Dallas, he is miles better in all honesty. Dallas nearly lost against Little in prizefighter who was so tired he was nearly falling over on his own after 2 rounds.
