Quatavious Demon Cash vs. Calvin Lynn Metcalf II (as in "The Second", not signifying this is a rematch; it ain't), 6 rounds @ middleweight

Ah, a few digs towards Ryan Garcia complaining about his 200k payday on a card where Stevenson is making 400k. Subtle, ESPN.

Metcalf is a useful journeyman at this level; he most notably lost a ten round UD to Shane Mosley Jr. last year (and definitely fought Vijender Singh a few months earlier, but it must've been semi-pro as BoxRec doesn't have any listing for it)

Ugly styles clash... both got in a lot of incidental leather in sloppy exchanges, trading off in the lead role although Cash is more often the one backing up & countering. Metcalf grazing with lead rights lunging up and in from a crouch, as Cash scoots away behind a jab.

10-9 Cash, but not wowing me.

That ad-screen in the background with the sparks flying is really distracting!

I thought Hacine Cherifi had made a comeback for a moment.

Metcalf has a cut on his left eyebrow from accumulated Cash overhand rights in the pocket.

    20-18 Cash

Cash's short inside punches are nice but I don't like how easily he gives ground and allows himself to be backed up

34-25 connect advantage for Cash after two.

Joe Tessitore believes Metcalf's cut to be the result of a head clash - and indeed they show one in slow motion replay. That's as may be, although it could've been a combination of factors. I'm not sure if the ref has made a determination either way (could influence TD or TKO should the cut become a limiting factor and force an ending)

The ref had ruled it from a punch, it turns out. Commentators wondering if he will 'correct' the call - but he wasn't necessarily wrong. The fact that a head clash occurred doesn't mean the overhand rights (which Cash was landing before and after the head clash) hadn't opened it up.
