When Top Rank promoter Bob Arum made a deal with Showtime and sister network CBS last month to handle the Manny Pacquiao-Shane Mosley pay-per-view bout, he said he cut HBO out of the deal in order to foster broadcast network attention to boxing.

Arum always had been intrigued by the potential of 116 million homes that have CBS and CBS' relationship with premium cable network Showtime, compared to the 30 million or so homes that have HBO.

The Pacquiao-Mosley series kicks off April 2 at noon ET on CBS just before the network's coverage of the NCAA Final Four begins. The first episode will replay on Showtime on April 16 (10 p.m. ET). The second episode will air on Showtime on April 23 (10 p.m. ET/PT), and the third will air at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.

The finale will debut on May 6 on Showtime (10 p.m. ET/PT), with a CBS replay at 2 p.m. ET on May 7, several hours before Pacquiao and Mosley touch gloves.

I love it. Great move by Top Rank. GBP is losing the promoting war...and quick.

Ortiz was GBP biggest up and coming fighter now hes written off but most or at least label as a quitter. Kirkland and Angulo are all our of the picture. JMM might even leave GBP now to land the Pacman fight from what I read on Maxboxing.com

top rank is the only promotional company that could have pulled off a move like this because they have manny paquiao. cbs would not have agreed had it been mayweather that was being showcased. most companies would not want to invest high dollars for advertising air time if they would be asociated with someone with floyds image, regardless of how good he is in the ring. any other boxer besides those 2 would just not attract enough viewers to make the air time valuable. its a good thing for boxing that manny is where he is at and is who he is.

Its just the begining my man.
With TR pushing the limit GBP can only try and do more. Turns out the war might be a good thing.

Competition is a good thing in this regard. GBP has to bring its A game now if it wants to survive.

GBP took a backwards step. But had the upper ground a year ago. They can still regroup. They just need to showcase the right guys. GBP has lots of good fighters. Most of them are not getting airtime. Marquez looks to jump ship. So its a perfect time to showcase Chris John and talk about how he beat Juan. Get Johns name out there.

Top rank is top. But their move are really risky. They can go down just as fast if this blows in their face. I think their on the outs of HBO at the momment.

I just think all or most of the fighters HBO and GBP were trying to build got **** faced. Kirkland got jailed, Angulo got deported and lost to Cintron, JMM is looking for a thrid Pacman fight, Ortiz quit like a ***** and **** even Mosley himself bailed on GBP.

All the up and coming prospects are with TR and all the big named boxers are either independent or with TR.
