Mares already deserves Donaire. He doesn't need to jump over an extra hurdle to get to Donaire. Mares' resume is excellent. Fans would vote Mares-Donaire over Donaire-Rigo. I'm not saying Mares-Rigo is bad but if that fight can be made between GBP and TR then why not just make Donaire-Mares since that's what the fans want the most?? It should be as follows: If Arum is willing to make a big SBW fight with GB, Donaire-Mares is as good as it gets. If Arum is not willing to cooperate then Donaire-Rigo has to happen.
Fossil Bob will predictably try and make a rematch between Donaire-Arce if Arce is somehow able to offer just good enough of an effort for justify one. If Donaire annihilates him like many believe he will, Fossil Bob will then look towards Mijares, whom he already once attempted to match Donaire against. And then Fossil Bob may consider making the in house fight between Donaire-Rigo. Unfortunately for boxing fans, it's likely that Mares is not even being considered by TR as a near future possible opponent for Donaire; and considering the fight represents one of the 5 best fights that can be made in boxing, IMO, it's yet another reason for me to make contemptuous posts directed towards Arum.
I actually think this is a good competitive fight that Mares styles wise has a good shot at. I think Donaire beats both of them but in the rock paper sicisors of boxing he has a better chance of beating Mares then Rigo and Mares has a good chance of beating Rigo. So it all works in TR's favor. Well played old crafty jew, well played.
Nonito vs Mares will sell huge right away, it guarantees a sell out around mexican communities but Arumm wont have absolute control of that fight. Rigo just want to fight a big name in the division and Mares fits the profile. I heard Mares has been debating about jumping to TR to get the Nonito fight. Mark my words, TR will offer GBP the Rigo vs Mares, im not sure GBP is going to agree, even if there is a signed contract to fight Nonito next because the risk of losing against Rigo.
Bob doesn't like playing under such rules. Golden Boy gave him DPDL for Gamboa and there was never a return offer, just like there won't be here.
Mares deserves Donaire next, but if Arum is still being a little ***** Rigo is the next best opponent. Mares beats Rigo by stoppage and then there is completely no where else for Arum to run.
finally then when Rigo wins he finally gets some respect he deserves, although i think Mares is a easy style for him Mares does not like bodyshots if he comes chargin like he did against Moreno hes gonna take a few
Per what Mares said, don't think he'll take the fight. He wants a big money fight and wants to fight the top guy, if he were gonna do this why not fight JSC and keep all the money with GBP?
TR won the purse bid on a mandated fight. Doesn't apply. Donaire is top dog in the division. Mares needs Donaire not the other way around. My opinion. Donaire is tops P4P. I don't keep a list. I feel the ONLY way Donaire gets beat is if he goes up too far in weight. He simply has no equals in his weight class. Sorry Kid. I think Donaire does to Rigo exactly what he did to Nishioka. I don't think TR will let us find out though. Nonito will move up and TR will let Rigo rule the division once he leaves.
Arum wants to make these fights for one simple reason. He wants to make money off his prized assets. If Mares beats Rigo then he makes money off two fights. If Rigo beats mares then he makes money off that fight and the Rigo donaire fight is all of a sudden worth twice or three times more then it currently is right now. Thats what you call a win win. If he lets Mares directly fight donaire he only makes less money off a donaire mares fight then if the fight gets build up by the rigo fight. And if Donaire wins it doesn't make the Donaire rigo fight worth more. Thats not a win if you're in it to make $$$$$.
From what i have heard expect Mares to jump ship to Top Rank shortly when his contract ends with Golden Boy. Espinoza did a deal with Oscar Valdez & Top Rank. Watch Mares follow suit to TR too...good move.
