You'd think that the adopted son of a former superstar would be overexposed if anything, but you never hear a peep about this guy unless it's in reference to his being a Gatti victim (way north of his best weight). As a Super-Bantam he was unbeaten until Hector Sanchez relieved him of his title in 94. Bizzarely, there is hardly any footage on YouTube, but here's a horrible quality clip of him crushing Thierry Jacob in two rounds. Keep an eye out for Floyd at the very end of the clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jW774CJ41Hc Jacob had beaten Zaragoza and Ducke Mackenzie on his way to the title so was no pushover...Patterson makes him look like not much at all. Guy was a puncher, 43 of his 63 wins coming by way of knockout. He did lose as he moved up through the weights, but he was only stopped once in 73 bouts and that was in his 13th year as a pro. Patterson II deserves at least a nod! Anyone remember him particularly?
Around this time sub-WW fighters were pretty under exposed as a whole. Say what you like about the man but Hamed really put the FWs into the spotlight
I liked him a lot and enjoyed following his career. I agree that his best weight was 122. I recall him giving Gatti 2 tough fights which were by no means walkovers at 130.
Right, but not on this forum! Right. Have only seen one of those though, harsh indictment when i'm missing the guy fight even against Gatti.
He got some good air time on regular television. I remember seeing a few of his fights. He was showcased because of his connection with Patterson. A good little fighter, but like someone mentioned the feathers didnt get much attention because their fights almost always went the distance.
