Trainer Touching Povetkins glove after 1st knockdown

Nah their materials and corner supplies are checked before going out. It’s nothing but the trainer telling him to stay down. It’s not like he was literally cutting his glove to delay the fight and put smelling salts under his nose to wake him up! Lol

There have definitely been other instances during a fight or right before that were way more shady as far as cheating goes. The big iv scandal for example.

 

I don't think there was any truly nefarious intent, but if a trainer reaches into the ring and grabs his fighter, that constitutes a DQ.

It's up to the fighter to gather the wherewithal needed to stay down and pick up the count. If Povetkin was trying to rise on his own, the trainer should have let him without yanking him through the ropes in order to instruct him.

 

If they were going to put something on his glove then what was to stop them doing it in between rounds.

 

After this fight in the interview Ivan Kirpa (trainer) told that after the 1st knockdown he wanted to stop fight in order to avoid serious punches from AJ because Povetkin wasn't able to defend himself.

 

The trainer was simply trying to protect a 40 year old man from getting beat by a man a decade younger, whom would have lost to said 40 year old man had he been a decade younger.
