Trainers with decent records as boxers

    The amature programs in the US are not as big as they were back in the 40,50,60's Thats what I ment. No disrespect to Gold glove, but IMO its lost its luster it used to have. The Gold glove champ was huge back then, now you hardly hear anything about them

    Maybe when amateur boxing wasn't the joke that officials have made it now?

    My guess is he means in modern amatuer boxing with the PAL, U.S. Opens, Ringside National/World Championships, the GG title may be diltued a little.

    He loved the amateur game, and therefore instead of turning pro, he became interested in training amateur fighters. He became a part time coach at the Kronk, and the rest is history.

    I guess it worked out for him. Have made very decent money and didn't take too many punches
