IMO he would beat guys like :

    -Bivins
    -LaStarza
    -Clarence Henry
    -Rex Layne
    -Nino Valdes
    -past prime Louis

Close fights with Charles and Walcott....would split wins with these two....
And Marciano would stop him IMO.....

Hey,I've read your post about Gene Tunney and from what I saw you seem to be really hating that man.I'm pretty sure you are just trying to imagine the scenario when Rocky Marciano land that Suzie Q that (in your imagination) would end the fight in round 2.

Walcott beats Gene with his own clever boxing and MUCH harder punching. His quirky style would play havok at times with Gene's textbook style.

    Charles would beat him.

Marciano would lose the first 5 or 6 rounds, but keep coming. He'd break Tunney down in segments, stopping him around 11 or 12 rounds.

I would even take Bob Baker, who was an incredibly skilled boxer, over Tunney. Fast hands, big and strong. He has what it takes.

Valdez is a wild card for me. I'm not sure how Gene would handle someone who has such vast physical advantages over him. We have no benchmark in his career for that sort of thing.

Tunney has what it takes to beat the rest, IMO.

Gene would be in an era of stylists Charles,Walcott, Lastarza and while I think Gene goes in with an abundance of skill and talent, none of these are easy fights. Gene had legs as good as any but he was not as Wiley as Walcott and did not have the upper body utilities that Ezzard had, still Gene had a great jab, good foot movement and he showed very good power so I think he is competitive vs Charles and Walcott and had a bit more than Lastarza and proved that with his wins over Dempsey (would the best version of Lastarza beat the rusty Jack? )

I do think Tunney falls short against Marciano in a battle that he starts off well but eventually breaks down somewhat like Lastarza in fight 2 and Walcott in fight 1 with Marciano....Marciano presented a lot more pressure than the rusty version of Dempsey and his mix of unorthodox angles, relentless attack and power shot wear Gene down or cut him off at the nub like Marciano did vs Matthews and Layne...but I think the game Gene uses his legs, speed and movement much like Lastarza but gets worn down and stopped in a battle of attrition in a great effort....All in all very successful but does not get THE title from the sole KING of that ERA

Tunney would get beaten up by Marciano, Walcott, Charles would be a bit too good for him and Moore is a 50-50. He beats Old Louis (probably), Bivins, LaStarza, Layne. A SHW like Valdes is a toss up though as he never took on a bigger HW like this, the same question mark is there for old Louis in that case I suppose

Marciano would have to settle for a 15 round decision win, IMO,...and the fights with Charles and Walcott could go either way. Everyone else Tunney outclasses..with the toughest fight with Roland LaStarza.
