Juan is not your usual fighter. He is dead serious and compulsive about his Pac fights. He literally chased Pac all these years just to get another shot. That was his motivation even when everyone thought he had no shot. He goes in and fights his perfect fight. He did not make any big mistakes. And he is just robbed by Bob Arum, Nevada and HBO all of which seen him as just a stepping stone.

That line gutted me the most. You could tell he was 100% dedicated to this fight, motivated as much as any fighter has ever been, completely absorbed by the challenge he had at hand. It showed in the fight beautifully, and the poor man still doesn't have his win.

Marquez chased Pacquiao for nearly 4 years, they had last fought at 130 lbs in 2008. Since that time, every decision Marquez has ever made in his career was for the purpose of fighting Pacquiao 1 more time.

Thinking about the sacrifices he's made during the last several years, and the hell he went through in training camp.......yes hell, both physically and mentally to be in that zone he knew he needed to be vs Pacquiao.

.......then with everyone at the Arena and at press row scoring for Marquez, 3 individuals decide, "no, thats not good enough. We dont care what went down in the ring, Pacquiao is the man you here.":-(

As a Marquez fan, that interview was hard for me to take, but we must realize that this was right after the decision was announced. Marquez still had smoke coming out of his ears.
Marquez is going to find out in the coming days, weeks, months, and even years, just how much the fans appreciate him........and I'm certain that at every turn when a fan comes up to him they will say, "le ganaste a Pacquiao 3 veces Campeon."

I'd rather here that for the rest of my life than to have to live an existence that when you have to deal with your fans, you have to pretend that you beat Marquez twice.:!:

Who knows, maybe Manny Pacquiao one day after he's hung his gloves will concede, "Marquez is my Daddy.":D

Ray Leonard did, when he conceded years past his rematch with Hearns, "he kicked my butt."

We just have to accept it guys. Marquez is better than Manny, in terms of boxing skills. Manny tried to box Juan, and failed. Manny returned to his original self every time he faces Marquez, coz Manny gets so intimidated whenever Juan counterpunches him. Manny was waiting for Juan to brawl with him, in which was Manny's great chance for a KD, but didnt happen. Marquez was just too intelligent not to engage.

Some ESB dude said that Manny did the "ineffective aggression", but sad to say, that was what the judges scored in favor of Pac. IMO the judges that night scored for aggression and/or late-second effectiveness, judges have their own preference you know.

call it robbery, call it shutout. replay the fight in slow****ingmo for all we want, but we cannot reverse the decision. maybe you can call NSAC for review if you want.

    One thing tho:

Juan Manuel Marquez, YOU ARE A WARRIOR.

I feel sorry for him. But he shouldn't be that depressed because the whole world is saying he won the fight. Be proud Juan, you performed much much better than expected.

I hope he does eventually hold his head high for the victory.

**** a fourth fight though. Like he says, if he performs like that and can't knock him out but deserves the decision and doesn't get it, it just won't be worth it to hear Pacquiao get another decision. It's not worth the training, the dedication, the mental and physical stress...

Let him add onto his legacy by taking on some 140-pounders or the young guns at lightweight. He'd probably beat them all, or nearly all of them.

I dont agree with the highlighted Tazo.

You have to realize Marquez is 38.
I cant see where he can get motivated to prove himself all over again vs younger fighters.

Another Pacquiao fight is feasible, but under the circumstances we all know he needs a KO to get an official victory.

For me there is only one fight out there that makes any sense and that Marquez will have a hunger for.

Complete the circle and become the only man of the mini-fab four to beat the other three.

An Erik Morales fight is the only fight that makes any sense legacy wise for Marquez.......and oddly enough, I think Marquez knocks out Morales in a thrilling and competitive fight.

Erik Morales to complete his legacy and walk off into the sunset with his head held the highest and proudest of them all.

I feel for JMM. He is truly a great fighter. However even if he had been given the decision, he cannot claim to be a better fighter than Pac. Can Norton claim to be a better fighter than Ali? Styles make fights. Against each other Pac and Marquez are evenly matched, but the remainder of their careers demonstrate that Pac is a better fighter.

I feel bad for both fighters. Marquez never getting the spotlight, and Pacquiao getting too much of the spotlight. Marquez does an incredible job, yet doesn't get the win, or at least the credit. And Pacquiao doesn't wipeout his opponent and gets ridiculed by his own fans. It really sucks.

A strong case can be made Marquez' only loss was against Mayweather, two weight divisions up without a single physical advantage and not nowhere near his prime.

You need to understand here, what you witnessed on Saturday night was a 38 year old well past his prime lightweight box the pants off of what many people consider the great Manny Pacquaio.

I dont think there is any question here who the better fighter is.

Pacquiao's style makes for him too look extroardinary against slow fighters that stand right in front of him.

I dont fancy either Marquez or Pacquiao to beat any of the top great Welters or even Jr. Welters in history, but I'd sure would tell you I'm confident that Marquez would give a better performance and compete against the better skilled Welters and Jr. Welters than Pacquiao would.

The thing is in that case, Norton has a much inferior resume to Ali.

Marquez on the other hand, while he doesn't have as many big names on his resume, fought more fighters at the top of the lightweight division than Pacquiao did at the top of the welterweight division. I'd still rank Pacquiao higher I think because of all he's done, but the gap isn't nearly as far between them pound for pound as it is between someone like Ali and Norton.

I have a hard time calling one fighter better than another if the lose H2H just because they can beat other fighters more easily. Morales did better against different fighters than Barrera did, but because Barrera bested him two out of three, I'd really hesitate to call Morales a better fighter than Barrera. That phase wouldn't sit right with me. Maybe "more accomplished."

    C'mon that's not even close.

Pacman was the undeserving recipient of so much wealth and accolades based on their last fight and now it happens again.

Officially, JMM should now be the first Mexican to win 4 legit div. belts but that was stolen from him(as well as who knows how many millions of dollars).
