you know its got me wondering....

If Pac had of fought JMM at the time Floyd fought JMM....the Pac fight may well of been a walk in the park for pac like they thought it was going to be all along.

Makes me wonder if the Floyd fight were to happen again, would the outcome change significantly?

JMM was chalk and cheese stuff when fighting both floyd and pac.

I know different style of fighters etc etc but the JMM that fought pac was a different fighter altogether with his speed and power levels increased and his fitness appearing top notch once again ( not that fitness has ever troubled a pro like JMM)

in the 3rd pac fight, JMM certainly looked stronger and faster than in the Floyd fight, but his speed and power were noticably inferior to when he was in the lower weights, which is logical of course. But thats what makes his performance against Pac in the 3rd fight that much more impressive...His technique, and craft alone carried him on in that fight. :good

That flaw of froch wasnt just on that punch though, its a big one thats always in his game which he cant change anymore due to age.
It was the reason why a lot of people thought aa would ko him, since he looked so "open" for it vs kessler.
Froch is an overachiever and is better than you would think if you just saw him fight for the first time imo, he has ways to win, sure he isnt an atg for anything, but what he lacks in speed and technique he makes up in heart, chin and toughness.
Thanks for the breakdown, jmm is right, like always.

Great thread, thanks for the interpretation.

When watching the fight, I noticed periods earlier on that Froch sort of lunged in with sloopy looking right hand and combination flurries. He really does this with his chin up in the air totally exposed at times. When it came to technique or refinement I wasn't overly impressed with Froch. His speed, power, and determination looked good in this fight relative to his usual self though.

Froch strikes me as a man who often has poor form, but has the capacity to throw the right punches at the right time and control the distance well enough to avoid getting hit too much. The looping hand seemed to come out somewhere between tactically looped and sloppily wide, but the important thing is the way he got himself in position to land that punch in the first place. Poor form doesn't mean your not clever; in varying degrees, that instinctual and raw form of ring IQ what got fighters like Maidana and Katsidis to the places and moments they've gone to.

    :yep

JMM breaking it down, speaking truth and wisdom. I never get tired of hearing his take on other fights/techniques.

Great points as always my friend!:good

The bottom line with Marquez vs Mayweather is that Marquez a lightweight was fighting much more off his prime against a naturally bigger and just as elitely skilled as he is Floyd Mayweather.

Mayweather won clearly of course, but despite that, it was far from the total whitewash some people like to make it out to be.

As you said Tazo, Marquez landed a few clean shots in many rounds most dont.

Let me also add, what does it say about JMM's skillset that Mayweather is reluctant to attack and be as aggressive vs Marquez as he was vs Mosley and Cotto???????

Cotto had some success in landing some effective shots vs Mayweather, mainly because Mayweather's own aggresiveness left him vulnerable.

Marquez himself in a previous golpe a golpe said that the two main reasons he did'nt have as much sucess as Cotto was......

    1. Size, Mayweather much the bigger fighter on the night.

    and

    2. Mayweather was'nt nearly as aggressive against him that he was vs Cotto, which gave Cotto the opportunities to be able to connect with more shots.

Anyone that studies style matchups comes to the conclusion that despite Marquez being a lightweight, Mayweather was much more respectful of Marquez skillset than he was Cotto's, which is why Mayweather unleached with much more mustard on his shots vs the lesser skilled fighter in Cotto, thus giving Cotto some opportunities to land his.

JMM landed some good shots v. Floyd and didn't move him in the slightest. There was a sequence when he finally got Floyd backed up to the ropes and landed a straight right flush on the button. Floyd barely noticed. Juan just can't hurt true ww and jmw's.

Reading JMM's breakdowns is always like getting a free education. There aren't many guys - fighters or trainers - where I feel like I'm learning something every time they speak.

It seems that both Finito Lopez and Marquez would both be excellent trainers who could continue Nacho's legacy.

Also, every time Froch throws that punch from now on, I'll be referring to it as a bolado.
