Povetkin fighting on Huck's undercard? Interesting. Anyway looks like Povetkin found a way to get the #1 spot quickly. Kauffman shouldn't be a problem.
I was hoping Povetkin would face someone a little better than Kauffman but its an ok fight for Povetkin. He really got beat up by Wlad so I guess a fight on this level for his first fight back is fine. I just don't want to see Povetkin beat Kauffman and then get another shot at Wlad. After he beats Kauffman he should have to atleast face one of the WBA's other higher rated heavies to get a shot. Jennings, Ortiz, and Wilder are all rated in the top 5 and Povetkin against one of those guys for a shot at Wlad is fine but a win over Kauffman shouldn't be enough for a Wlad-Povetkin rematch.
This fight is on as the OP says, but it won't be May 3 in Germany on the Huck card. Ryabinskiy says it will be later in May in Moscow.
Adequate come back fight for Povetkin IMO, before he moves back into the big fight picture. I hope he goes for Adamek, Haye, Pulev or winner of Arreola-Stiverne later on.
Kaufman is the same guy who got stopped by Grano and people think he will beat Povetkin lol. Povetkin wins by tko in the 4th.
A good fight for Sasha. Kauffman can give him some problems at some point but a surprise is very unlikely.
Why do you think it is official? The date of the news is the fifth of February and Riabinskiy has already told that Kauffman is not even on the list of Povetkin's potential opponents.
Dafuk is Travis Kauffman?? The winner here should fight the winner of Fury -Chisora to become mandatory to Wlad.
