I have no choice but to use a treadmill for alot of my running, but I much prefer a real road. Real road is alot harder, and more interesting. Only benefit I see from treadmill is you keep good consistent exercise form.
Im six feet even. For those of you who run on the treadmill often, would you say it has a negative or postive affect on your stamina?
**** running, don't waste your time for amatuers, unless weight is an issue. Do hill sprints until you puke. If you can do more than six you're doing it wrong.
Just get to the point where you puke, that's pretty much the whole point At least, that's why my sadistic coaches thought.
I prefer running outside, feeling the breeze, looking at the people, enjoying the atmosphere, jumping over obstacles just great feeling
outside for sure. Treadmill if its rain badly or I just want to do 10 minutes to warm up or something but you cant beat outdoor running in my opinion.
I find it also helps if you suffer from shin splints with running or general soreness in the shins. A fitness instructor girl I know gave me that advice and it works for me so I always set a treadmill on at least a slight incline. Roadwork is definitely tougher, I think the treadmill does a lot of the work for you as it moves underneath you rather than you propelling yourself along a stationary surface.
Both have their pro's and con's. I enjoy running outside as I run up the beach in the fresh air. Lately I've been following a weight loss program and running on a treadmill is a lot easier as the program says I need to do interval training at certain inclines and speeds so it's easier to keep track. It does get boring after a while though, specially if some **** has put radio 1 on the radio.
