Who wins this battle of ehhmm eccentric fellows ? McCall of Lewis ko 2 Berbick of pinklon Thomas w12 ?
I will go with McCall in a very close 7-5 type decision in an ugly, brawling fight in which neither man is badly hurt.
Yep Bert ,not a lot between em really. Both solid Chin s ,both liked to brawl. Both caused upsets, Berbick over Pinky and the bull over Lennox. I'd say close decision to with the edge to Oliver.
Berbick when motivated was that bit more classy. I know McCall had that chin, and showed against Lennox he had a dig. But I always thought of him as well connected (DKP) Journeyman.
Good match-up. I favor the Atomic Bull because he had the ability to hurt Berbick but not the other way around. Still, he could be sluggish, as could Trevor. Whomever is less lazy wins this one.
Me too ..i cant figure out what separates the two of them..this would have been a good Tuesday night fights main event.
In a weird way, Oliver McCall was an underachiever who managed to overachieve...if that makes sense. On one hand, McCall was sabotaged by constant legal problems and stints in jail and by his own personality. Yet at the end of his career he managed an astonishing seventy three fights. Remarkably, in July 1989 he was twenty fights into his career and he was the victory that put Buster Douglas into his fateful title fight with Mike Tyson (I was a newborn baby). In 2014 he had his final bout (I had dropped out of college, worked full time, and gone back to graduate from college by that point). That's amazing longevity. Beyond that, he has some solid names on his resume: Bruce Seldon, Jesse Ferguson, Lennox Lewis, Larry Holmes, Fres Oquendo, Sinan Samil Sam, Henry Akinwande, Francisco Daimani, Oleg Maskaev, Lance Whitaker, and Yaqui Diaz. It says something about the value of persistence. if you manage to have a career that is longer than the lifespan of some of your fans (so far at least) and you win at least 33.33% of your significant fights, you'll eventually accumulate a solid resume, no matter how many traffic violations you have on your record. Respect that.
Assuming they are both clean and somewhat "prime", the nod goes to McCall for me. Under rated boxer and extremely tough and durable. Berbick was no more than another contender, McCall was a class above that. WUD12 8 rounds to 4 to McCall
