I really don't think Green was expected to win lol.

I'd be interested to try and remember the expectations against Ali actually who was turning 40.

Bowe would probably pull if off, but I think he'd get really dirty and almost be DQ'd.

Cracks me up when people think any of these guys even had a chance against the sliding but plenty good enough Holmes

I think Berbick knocked them off before they could really mount strong challenges to Holmes.

Berbick was supposed to lose to them.

Berbick was a guy nobody really wanted, but he just caused upsets.

Was Bowe much better than an unbeaten Greg Page?

Just admit you were wrong already. Berbick had just knocked off the Ring #3 and Green had fought NO-ONE.

Yes he was. Page broke his right thumb in the second round. Berbick outmuscled him and dominated the inside exchanges. Bowe was a fantastic inside fighter and would be in his element fighting Berbick. He hit harder and was better technically. Page liked to jab and box from the outside and Berbick took this away from him at regular intervals. Berbick was a bad stylistic match for Page, the opposite is true with Bowe. This is really really simple stuff.

Green was doing alright though, he was a decorated amateur, unbeaten prospect and active at that time. Berbick was back on the map after beating Bey but had spent some time treading water in the wilderness years since losing to Snipes and ST Gordon. Berbick had already been there. Green would have been seen as having a bright future.

    Back to the point.

Berbick was not expected to lose to Blood. I'm actually trying to remember is he was expected to lose to Ali. He had put up a much better effort against Holmes than Ali and Ali was about to turn 40.

He was expected to lose to Thomas. He was expected to lose to Tate. He was expected to lose to unbeaten Greg Page. Probably expected to lose to Bey.

He was selected as “the opponent” for Ali. And probably for unbeaten Mitch Green too.

I think beating Bey put Berbick back on the map but Even then he was then given an unbeaten guy to get past in the shape of Blood Green. Another difficult match.

I’m not sure Bowe met many unbeaten guys before becoming champion.

If you lined those guys up for Bowe I can see him losing some fights.

Was this ever in doubt? What has this got to do with anything being discussed?

    So Ali was definitely favored?

Berbick was not expected to lose to Green. Green should not have been on the list.

Just admit you were wrong for ****s sake and stop talking ****.

God you talk some **** trying to defend positions that are proven to be wrong. Little wonder you drive people up the wall.

So freaking what? Bowe lost one fight in his entire career, a disputed decision to a prime ATG.

it’s got quite a lot to do with it because here is a matchup Berbick is expected to lose again...yet there are three strong examples (Tate, Thomas and Page) whee he was also expected to lose but the crazy man still won ...and Page is quite similar to Bowe. So quite intriguing point I think.

no On reflection I think the Hope was Ali would win. Which is not quite the same thing.

I think it’s a crossroads fight. At that point Berbick would have been a good win on Greens Resume.

Bowe Lost one fight but he was twice severely hammered by a unfancied Golota and really had some very sloppy wins...where a banana skin like Berbick can conceivably upset him.

I can’t rule Trevor out entirely.
