Berbick is more ring savvy than given credit for, could use the jab, but mainly as an offensive weapon, he was very strong, this is a real 50/50 fight. I’d still slightly lean towards Ron Lyle, Berbick probably had more tricks up his sleeve, but Ron Lyle wasn’t far behind skill wise, but was a lot more powerful and feel like that’d be the difference due to them both most likely having nowhere to go, so power will be an important factor here, he wins by late stoppage or on points IMO.
Berbick has this one, too. The only Trevor that I'd take to lose to Lyle is the early one that got bombed out against Mercado- Even the Berbick of the Snipes or Gordon fight would probably do fine.
Y'all know I've said many times that Lyle is the most overrated heavyweight discussed on this forum, but I actually like him in this one.
Where did you find that? I would like to see it. I have mentioned that in the Jerry Quarry biography I’m reading, the authors say Lyle’s story about being stabbed and essentially dying in prison was BS. If there’s a documentary on Lyle I would like to see documentation one way or the other on that.
