Quite a few boxers have had songs written about them. Leading the pack is The Greatest,Muhammad Ali. 'Black Superman' and 'In Zaire' by Johnny Wakelin. Who also can remeber 'The Ali Shuffle' by Georgie Fame. Reggae great Denis Alcapone did two of them 'Cassius Clay' and 'Muhammad Ali' Count Basie did 'Joe Louis Blues' Some Irish folk singer recorded a number called 'Clones Cyclone' about Barry McGuigan, and Big Youth gave us 'Foreman versus Frazier' I'm sure that there's been loads of others that I've forgotten or never heard of. Let's hear them guys !
Don't forget perhaps the most famous of these, Bob Dylan's "Hurricane," written about Ruben Carter, of course.
Miles Davis did an obscure jazz piece called "Roberto Duran". Tom Russell did a song called "The Eyes of Roberto Duran" which is quite good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2gfz...5A0E86D3&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=95 Mark Knopfler's "A Song for Sonny Liston" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pp_T_zVwqAA
