Trick or Treat: Klitschko vs. Rahman and Valuev vs. Holyfield

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by dudemcdudeson, Oct 31, 2008.

  1. Is this for real? This absolutely sucks. I won't take anything from a excellerated aged Evander Hoyfield and an ex lucky shot B level fighter in Hasim Rahman. I will in fact say this really explains where we are at in the Heavyweight division. A few weeks ago we were witnesses to Vitali Klitschko's return after a four + year layoff. He outclasses what at the time was our number 2 heavyweight in world, Samuel Peter. That fight to me was unwatchable and I thank the lord for DVR. Anyway, now we are treated to two heavyweight championship fights but under worse circumstances than the Klitschko/Peter snoozefest. Nicolay Valuev is horrible. I dressed up as him this past evening for Halloween. As I was handing out candy to anxious trick or treaters before they could utter the Halloween phrase. I put on a Valuev immitated boxing exhibition in my garage. The candy goers where horrified by the sight as it wouldn't be hard to make a Valuev performance look any worse. Let's just say they won't be back next year. Just like I will never watch a Valuev fight again. Valuev UD over Holyfield. Now, I actually enjoy watching Wladimir Klitschko fight all these so called pugilists. Other than the Ibragimov fight, he has finished all of his fights over the past 2 years. I do not by any means consider the younger Klitschko to be or have any chance of being an all time great. After Povetkin pulled out, I thought there wouldn't be a replacement but a postponement. Boy was I wrong. Hasim Rahman comes into the picture. Now though he is a former two time heavyweight champion, he is crap and I can't elaborate any further. These fights remind me of some fat/ugly chick your boy tries to hook you up with. No matter how much they throw in the "take one for the team" thing, the wingman flies away to the south. I've watched many bad fights hoping that it may turn out better than expected. These two fights failed already. Rahman late round KO over Wladimir to become a 3 time champion......SIKE! Who the F{}ck cares?

Vlad Vs. Rahman is better than nothing. Valouev Vs. Holyfield, well, Valouev needs the big money fight. Also, Rahman claimed that Vitali ducked him! LOL! Vlad will take care of Rahman by knocking him out.

    Vitali ducked Rahman :D

Why should the Champ wait for the contender? I have my tickes and i am glad the event will take place. Rahman stepped in and Povetkin can start crying in Moscow.

Good choice for Wlad fighting Rahman.

    Wlad will win by KO!

Good post, it's sad, but true. Fights like these just show how bad the division truly is. Let me start by saying, Holyfield has no business and really doesnt deserve to be fighting for another title, he got his chance over a year ago when he fought Iggy. Holyfield is now like 46 years old and is 15 years out of his prime.

Rahman is even worse, the guy struggled to win against a C class contender in Tarus "The Bull" Sykes, and D class Heavyweight Zuri Lawrence, just over a year ago, and recently looked to be on his way to a knockout loss against another old fighter in Toney. Rahman is a joke anymore, he looks more shot than the American economy.

I know the division is in really bad shape, it's just hard to believe that Holyfield and Rahman are the two of the best challengers out there. Maybe Tyson and Lewis should think about a comeback to the ring, the lack of talent and star quality at the top ranks are at an all-time low, and after seeing Vitali dominate the number 2 Heavyweight in the world just a few weeks back, I learned anythings possible.

That makes me laugh so much.

I know Wlad wants that fight....and Valuev "apparently" wants the fight yet they're both fighting over the hill past their prime cheap versions of HWs.

It's one thing for Wlad to stumble upon Rahman because Povetkin is out. It's another for Valuev to have 3 months (or however long it's been since he faught Huggy Bear) and stumble upon friggin Holyfield.

There are better options out there than Wlad vs Rahman!

So far Valuev ' s team hasnt accepted Hollyfield yet. However,Valuev's German promoter wants to stage Valuev vs Hollyfield.
As Sauerland calls the shot in all likelyhood we will have the delight to watch Valuev take on that living zombie Hollyfield.
