I seem to have a habit of forgetting to breathe when throwing shots in an actual fight. This causes me to gas out much faster than I should...do you guys have any tricks for remembering to breathe or do I just need to get some more experience in so I can learn to relax?
maybe conciously thinkin about it...like trying to remember and practice it in sparring....but with time you;ll wonder what the problem was
Learn to make a noise when you breathe out. Wheter it's shout like Hatton, or just a whoosh noise of forcefully breathing out. You will know you aren't breathing properly because you can't hear the noise. Or your coaches won't be able to hear it and can call out to remind you. Practice it in training on every punch you throw. It will also become easier when you get more experience, you're not breathing because you're all tensed up. More experience in the ring = more relaxed.
It does work , i did a first aid course the other day and we got to talking about breathing. Aparantly your body doesnt breathe in that just happens naturally so your not actually "sucking " air in as it just goes in. However you do breathe out. So i guess if your conciously making those sounds the breathing in bit will come naturally. I need to do it too mate biggest things i get told when sparring is breathe and relax lol
I don't make any noises when I throw punches. I just stay realxed and breathe from the bottom of my gut. I make sure I breath out when I throw, if I throw a combo I just breathe out more slower until I've finished throwing.
Is it better to try and breathe out through the nose if possible? I know Glen Johnson for example uses his mouth and makes some mad noises! But is in and out the nose best if you can?
in through the nose and out through the mouth, breathing in through the nose supposedly opens up the lungs, during high intensity training its normal just to breathe through the mouth as its a lot easier, during your rest period always through the nose first
